Hey guys, Chris Parry here.. Or Paz, or Perry, or Ero Perro haha! I’m new to the Driftworks Blog so i’m just gonna pop up a little introduction with some background information about myself and my cars as hopefully I will be contributing quite regularly to the Driftworks Blog, so I figure its only fair! I’ve had a serious amount of Drift cars over the years, loads of BMW’s and a Couple of Nissans too but my most fond memories come from my AE86’s!
I saw my first drifting clip on the internet sometime in ’99, about the same time as a few other certain nutters.. It was awful quality but it got me, I was hooked! I wasnt able to get a drift car instantly, but in 2001 I managed to strike a deal which got me my first Drift Car, pictured above… It was a 1986 Corolla GT Coupe! Or AE86 if you will! Sweeeeet! I started drifting this car straight away, slowly working on it and trying (and failing) to get good! Man I loved that car!
I ended up selling this car to a friend called Anil, who still owns it to this day (sort of)! I always wanted a Trueno just like the “Chairman of drifting”, Hiroshi Takahashi in his Running Free AE86, so I set about importing my own! A few months later and there it was!
I changed everything on it, all suspension parts and ran numerous engine setups over the years, and did alot of drifting in the old girl!
It went through various changes throughout the years, more and more drifting, painted red at the end of 2006. Drifted in the Drift UK Season for all of 2006, had a wicked season.
And in 2007 I got a full Run Free Aero Kit for the beast, and did even more drifting! I drove in EDC in 2007, again had a great season! The car never missed a beat!
During the winter I picked up a practice AE86, a sweet 2 Door Levin which I imported, the car was so cool.. It was a full drive at Perry Towers and the little cream Cam was a beaut!
In 2008 I stuck an F20C S2000 Engine and Gearbox into the Red 3 Door. It was rubbish, and ruined the car. Then I wrote it off after qualifying 4th behind Kumakubo, Morrison and Tanaka. Sweet, good job Perry!
Me and the guys re-shelled it after the smash, using a 2 door Levin shell, which I used for a month or so before selling it on. It was my last AE86 and my last competition spec drift car!
So after I sold that I took a break from competative drifting, just had some casual drift cars (an S13, E36 and an E30) and did alot of Pit Biking in 2009! I recently purchased the S14 you saw in a blog not so long ago to get back into drifting! I wont be competing as its not for me, but I just want to do alot of drifting and have a car that is basic, yet competant.. And most importantly, to get out there and have some serious fun! See you out there!
And finally just a quick “thank you” to everyone for all the help over the years! Thanks to Driftworks, all my friends and family and my better half Laura for massive support and help! And thanks to all the guys ive ripped with over the years, we’ve had some classic fun! And finally, thanks to Doristars.com for the pictures!
Cheers!
Paz
