FCD:MP – Mallory Park Drifting! Festival Style!

I think i’ll start this particular blog off with a word to sum up the Drift Session held at Mallory Park on Tuesday…  AMAZING!!!

Sparking it up through Gerards...

I’d been looking forward to attending this Mallory Park session for a while and with the S14 running well I thought it would be rude not to go! So myself, Jay, Kenny and Bamber headed on down to Mallory on Tuesday morning for a rip… And what fun we had!

Bob has been running Mallory days for a while now, but sadly each one has had low attendence which has actually cost Bob money! He carried on putting the days on but this day had the potential to be the last due to the low numbers, so a big push was made to try and get more drivers to attend this event to help save the venue…

Thanks for the Pic Ian!

And Bob wasnt disapointed this time, with 30 drivers attending on the day and all having the most awesome time. 30 cars with the Open Pit Lane format and there wasn’t any queue or any real traffic on the track allowing everyone to get the most from the day! So hats off to Bob for persevering and to all the drivers, spectators and media bods who came along for the rip!

Matt was on it ALL DAY!

Personally, I was a little nervous about heading out to Mallory as i’m still rusty and the venue has some fast corners, but initially to warm up, there are some great corners to learn on which helped me get get back into the groove of things, corners that a driver of any level can enjoy…

Don Carter back in action after welding an RLCA back together!

And in the afternoon I was feeling more confident with the track and the car! Drifting the length of Gerards on the limiter in 3rd and hanging it into the first bus stop with all 4 wheels locked up was such a rush! The angle that the car can pull with the Geomasters on is getting close to rediculous, i’m really looking forward to learning how to use it consistenly.

More Gerards...

I still have so much to learn at Mallory though, I seriously cant wait for the next one! I need to get my confidence back with regards to attacking Devils Elbow and learning to initiate into Gerards earlier and faster, but i’m sure it’ll come with more time on the track.. And i cant wait for it!

James ripping it up!

The other great thing about the day was the people! We had a sweet time with some familiar faces and met some new folks too, all with a super relaxed atmosphere and free cups of tea, you cant really go wrong! Big thanks to everyone there, all the drivers who were ripping it up, everyone who gave me a hand, the ‘togs (Thanks to James Gascoigne and Ian Gratton for the pics!!) and thanks to Bob for putting on an amazing event…  This is Drifting, pure and simple.

Running wide... Eeeek! I love Gerards!

See you all at the next one! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Stuart was really really flying!
