The world’s most extreme Japanese tuning show! Read more after the jump:From the makers of Japfest, comes Japfest 2: The Evolution, a brand new event for 2010, which comes to Rockingham Motor Speedway on Sunday 15th August.
Taking place at Europe’s fastest racing circuit Japfest 2 is a celebration of the most radical Japanese tuned cars, with world-class drifting action, extreme car displays, track action on the International circuit, a live action area and club displays.
The drifting area will see some of the finest drift cars and drivers in action. There will be drift passenger rides available all day for just £10! Plus 8 of Europe’s finest including Driftworks very own Phil Morrison and Bon Bon will be providing full-throttle demos on track. Check out the full driver list:
Shane Lynch – The Boyzone singer will be driving the Stobart/Japspeed/Maxxis V8 S15
This car is a new car for the 2010 season but already has taken Shane to victory at round 3 of the British Drift Championship. The car produces a massive amount of torque and when you hear the car it sounds like thunder!
Danny Eyles – Japspeed/Maxxis S15 RB25
Danny has been driving for Japspeed since 2006 and has had various successes throughout his drifting career. Danny is known for his hard and aggressive style of driving which has the crowd taking deep breaths and applauding his commitment behind the wheel!
Bon Bon – Driftworks/Federal Tyres
Ben Broke Smith or Bon Bon or The Bonatron 4000 or Smokatron 8000 as he is known has been drifting since it began here in the UK. His achievements include the 2008 European Drift Champion. He also took part in the inaugural Red Bull World Drift Championships which took place in California USA the same year representing the UK.
Phil Morrison – Driftworks/Federal Tyres
Known as Mr Driftworks himself shouldn’t need an introduction to those who know about drifting in the UK. Phil has driven every track and in every championship in the UK with massive success. The 2007 European Champion is driving the Driftworks Nissan S15 powered by a 3 litre Toyota engine producing approximately 700bhp, a sight not to be missed.
Christy Carpenter – Nexen Tyres
One of 2 drivers representing Ireland is Christy Carpenter, a long time drifter in the Prodrift series, Christy is another driver known for his aggressive and flamboyant driving style. His 2010 car is a Nissan S15 fitted with an engine found in the famous Nissan GTR range.
James Dean – Nexen Tyres
James joins us at Rockingham in his Nexen Tyre sponsored car, James is another driver who competed in the Red Bull World finals in America representing the Irish Prodrift championship. James was eligible after taking victory in 2008 Prodrift championship.
Mark Luney – SATS Supra
Mark is the reigning European Drift Champion, what Mark hasn’t done during his drifting career isn’t worth talking about. In 2010 Mark is driving the Sandy Author Training Services Toyota Supra. This car has been under development for the last 2 years. Mark now tops the British Drift Championship points table with one round remaining.
Simon Perry – Predator Motorsport
Simon is currently 2nd in the British Drift Championship standing only 2 points behind Mark Luney. Simon has been competitively drifting for 4 years and the 2010 season has been his most successful so far. His brightly coloured R33 Skyline powered by an engine built by Rising Sun Performance is always a crowd pleaser both on and off the track.

If that’s not enough, you can also put yourself to the test on Europe’s fastest circuit, with track sessions available throughout the day for all levels of driver. There will also be displays from some of the most extreme Japanese cars on earth, as well as hundreds of Japanese performance cars from the best car clubs in the country. There will also be a hall of fame with some of the most famous icons of the Japanese car scene, from Skylines to the R35 GT-R!
Event-goers looking for a bargain will be able to find those all-important car parts in the massive retail and tuner village, which will also feature an autojumble area. The trade area will be packed with leading industry names such as Maxxis, Millltek, TSW, Pioneer, STP, KW and Meguiars, as well the 2010 Auto Event Series partner, Adrian Flux.
