When I was getting into drifting, the sport in the UK wasn’t anywhere near the size that it was today. I could never really find much media content from the UK, so all I and many others were really exposed to were endless Youtube videos, VHS tapes, DVDs and magazines. Most of these videos and magazines contained footage and photos from the “glory” days of drifting in Japan. Cars such as Nobuteru Taniguchi’s red S15 Silvia, Yoshinori Koguchi’s 180SX and Youichi Imamura’s brown AE86 Trueno have forever been embedded into my mind, and are what made me love drifting in the first place!
So to my surprise I came across this video of Taniguchi drifting the S15 (in my personal favourite style) that I’d never seen before for some weird reason. Just watching this S15 hammering around Mobara Circuit for 3 minutes gets me hyped about drifting again!
Anyway, enough teary eyed reminiscing. Enjoy the goodness, and for anyone new to drifting – make sure you do your research on this guy and car!
That was from a video by Yokohama/Advan IIRC. I’ll see if I can find the full thing. I seem to remember that there was Ueno in his JZZ30 aswell as Orido all kicking ass around there too.

That BOV really makes its work. Great drifting!
Nob’s steering work is some of the smoothest I’ve ever seen.
For tomorrow go hunt down the Vid with Nob (In the HKS Altezza), Ueno (Soarer – obviously) and Orido (RIDDOX supra) on a very tight up/down circuit – it rocks!
Tanaguchi is the man that inspired me to drift all these years ago! His skillz are awesome and style so smooth! No One Better. Says it all really!
This was a Yokohama Advan Neova tyre commercial/demo video.
