Drifting, once banned on Teesside for its noise levels, has returned to the area once again and with any luck, this time it’s here to stay. Generally considered to be one of the nicest tracks in the country to drift, Teesside re-opened it’s doors on new years eve. With both JDM Allstars and BDC hosting events here this year, Teesside is also hosting semi-regular practice sessions. Three events have taken place so far with popularity increasing each time.
A couple of people made a 7 hour drive all the way up the country with a caravan to attend this and weren’t disappointed. BDC driver Ashley Willis commented, “The day was great, great seat time, great track that just seemed to keep getting better and better and day went on.”
The spread of abilities was pretty inspiring, from JDM/BDC drivers to complete first timers. The spread of cars was also pretty decent with the obvious S-bodies dominating.
Everyone who attended seemed to have a great time (I know I did) and I can genuinely see this new generation of practice days catching on in a big way. Massive thanks have to go out to David Wilson who runs these days brilliantly.
For info on the next event keep your eyes peeled on the DW forums.
