First off, let me apologise for this before I start.
I’m a relative newbie to writing blog posts, but I’m hoping they’ll improve within a short time to be something that’s enjoyable for anyone who reads them. As the title says, my name is Gary Boyd. I’m from Glasgow in Scotland and I’m fairly new to the Drifting scene as a participant, but I’ll get back to that in a bit.
I managed to win one of the Photography competitions and gain myself access to the Driftworks blog – Hopefully I can add a mix of badass content from further North of the border – as far as I’m aware there is no one else that posts on here from Scotland, so it should be cool spotlight some of the stuff that’s happening up here (and there is quite a lot!). I’ve been taking pictures for about a year, purely as a hobby. Thankfully Glasgow has a really diverse group of enthusiasts, so the variation of car is always different;
I myself come from a Honda background – being that most of my friends own Hondas of some description the jump from a FWD Civic to my S14a was quite daunting..
When I bought the car I was determined to actually use it, something i never got round to with my Civic. There is no real excuse for not getting involved, Crail Raceway in Fife hostsΒ ‘DWYB’esque days every few weeks and the Scottish section of the SXOC hosts a entire days drifting for not a lot of money every few months too. So with that said, last Saturday I set off to my first Drift day. It was in a word, amazing… admittedly I started off rough and as a result of getting too eager, had a run in with some tractor tyres that left my drivers sidelight and bumper looking worse for wear, but this sort of egged me on to just go for it – it’s the reason these days are setup after all, to learn.
Thank you to Ross Callaghan & Jamie Barker for the above pictures.
So yeah, I think that’s it… I’m looking forward to bringing you guys more content in the future, hopefully you’ve enjoyed my first post and thank you if you’ve made it to the end.
