RD5 took place over the weekend in Montmagny Quebec. The event was actually supposed to take place the weekend before but with sever thunder storms in the forecast for the first time ever a DMCC event was postponed. The DMCC team made the right call as last weekend was beautiful out and the event ended up being one of the best of the season so far.
As this was a one day all action event the day started very early with the 3 judges marking out the track…Its the second time this year the series comes to Montmagny and for this event the course was set up differently to change things up a bit from RD1.
During the drivers meeting Babu checks his facebook or maybe he was looking at a photo of his Swag Racing Scion FRS that he built for this years Scion Tuner Challenge.
It was cool to see Tanner Munson back in DMCC.. He came out to RD1 but sat the other event out till this now.
With a last minute date change of the event a few Pro drivers were no longer able to make it so a few of the Pro Ams were bumped up to Pro ranks. Paco was one of them. He was doing great until his engine decided to let go ending his DMCC Pro debut very early.. Good news is he will be finishing the season off with the Pro’s.
Eric Warnetts FC also suffered engine failure and sadly ending his season for this year..
Practice was going great.. We even had some crazy tandem battles!.. Here Alex Michaud pushing hard getting up on Tanner Munson.
Alex maybe pushed a bit too hard here and took the “very” high line.
After having a pretty bad round in Victoriaville where he failed to qualify Pat was determined not to make the same mistakes.
Jeff Laflamme was looking good through out practice.. Seems his team has sorted out all the bugs they had with the new chassis that plagued them at the start of the season.
Frank ” Hollywood” Tasse has pretty much the coolest helmet in DMCC.
After the practice sessions were over and a quick track break the grand stands started to fill up at qualifications were about to start.
Jeff Laflammed qualified in 3rd position.
Marc Landreville who is currently leading the championship race secured the 2nd spot.
Top spot went to Francis Tasse in his 780 hp S14. He was been very impressive all season and is sitting in the 2nd spot in the championship.
After the Pro Am’s had their main event it was time for the Pro’s to hit the track. Drivers intro Pat Cyr in his AE86 doing a burn out next to the official car of DMCC the Scion FRS.
First battle was between Simon Schaffner and Tom Tom.. Tom Tom advanced.
Alex Gosselin took out Claude Poirier.
Battle of Top 16 was between Babu and Tanner.. Babu did great and the match went to a One more time..But a spin on his chase run gave the win to Tanner.
Pat Cyr ended up taking himself out against Eric Paradis when he spun on his lead lap.. Then made contact with Eric on his chase run..
Marc Landreville had a by run into the Great 8. He was set to drive against Alex Gosselin but Alex’s engine let go right after his Top 16 Battle giving Marc an other by run.
After his by run into the Great 8 Francis Tasse took out Tom Tom moving onto the final 4.
Jeff Laflamme lost to Tanner Munson.
Alex Michaud advanced to the final 4 over Eric Paradis.
Marc faced Tanner in the Final 4. It was a good battle going to a One More Time.. Marc got the win.
Francis Tasse was awarded the win to move him onto the battle for 1st. After his battle with Marc, Tanner Munsons car started having problems forcing him to forfeit the 3rd place to Alex Michaud..It is not the way Alex wanted to win but it is his first DMCC podium.
Now for the final battle.. Tasse VS Landreville.. They are two buddies that have faced each other before…
And Marc Landreville got the win!!
Final Results.. Marc Landreville, Fracis Tasse, Alex Michaud.. The NOS Fastest Entry award went to Claude Poirier. Marc Landreville now as a decent lead in the championship. Next event is in already coming up soon.. For more info check out www.dmccdrift.com
