For RD6. DMCC was back at the Montmagny race track near Quebec City. To spice things up compared to the 1st round that was held here the event was going to be a Top 32 event running a different track layout and the main competition will be at night!
Early in the morning I spotted this sweet Z.. Turned out to be driven by Marc Landreville.. Sadly he informed me that he was not going to be competing again due to engine problems in his race car..
It looked nice parked next to fellow photographer and cool guy Antoine de Cardaillac’s Z.
Youri Levesques pit area was awesome and simple…Race Car some lawn chairs and a boom box!
Simon Schaffner was trying to be cool like me and take photos of his car.
Besides music and photos some actual race car work was going down!
Maybe unloading your car out of the trailer up a grassy hill was not the best idea.. At least Alex Blanchette had some fellow drivers and crew help him get his car onto level ground.
Before the morning drivers meeting Dave Briggs and Marc Landreville have a little chat. Its too bad Marc wont be competing as these two always have epic battles.
Drivers meeting..Where the drivers should be paying attention to what the judges are taking about!
After the drivers meeting I head out with DMCC gunner into the wilderness. We were afraid of getting attack by wild animals.
After getting 3rd at the last round Tanner Munson was looking to get back on the podium. He was putting down some nice runs early in practice.
After missing a few rounds due to engine/transmission problems. Mike Pollard was back in action!
Dave Briggs won the last event and was already looking solid in practice. His 700 hp SR is a joy to watch and listen too.
It was a super nice day out for the event which is nice since it was rainy and super cold the last time we were here. Race director “Babu” was prepared for the sun!
Despite looking strong after a few practice laps the engine in Tanners S13 had other ideas. He would later call it quits ending his weekend very early.
First awesome tandem of the day was with Brad Carlton and Philippe Bruyere. Both drivers killed it on this run!
Thats not tire smoke…The power steering had a slight leak and was making a nice mess inside the engine bay.
Paco is tons of fun to watch compete.. His style and attitude is awesome and he loves tight tandems. It does matter if its practice or competition he always tries to get as close as he can to the car infront..its wicked!
Every round that goes by Pat Cyr is getting better and better in his FRS.. He was killing it in practice and man does it sound mean.. You can’t even hear yourself think when its idling next to you.
Pro Am driver Jonathan Guitard has been very impressive this season. It is only his first season in competition yet he has no problems fighting it out with the seasoned Pro’s.
It does not hurt that for the last two rounds Marc Landreville has been Jonathan’s spotter.
Practice was going smoothly until Eric Warnett hit the wall very hard with the help of an other car. The crash was pretty violent but thankfully Eric was ok.
His car on the other hand didnt look so good.
Francis Tasse has been doing really good this season and so far is now in the lead for the champsionship. It is crazy to see how fast he adapted to a new chassis. It only took him a few events and he was back from where he left off last season.
And he even changes his own tires!
With the new tires maybe he entered a bit too fast..
It is nice to see that we have some pretty cool cars in DMCC this season..
Old School DMCC. Greig Basdeo. Kevin Grenier. Dany “Babu ” Bernir. Marco Santos and Haig Kanajian..Haig does not look so happy.
I think Brad Carlton needs to add some roof scoops or something..No idea how he sees inside that car.
Check out the angle Kevin Morin was getting!
Alex Michaud was getting some crazy angle too.. So fun to see..
Practice was wrapping up.. Check out this crazy tandem run between Francis and Pat..
With a very short break between practice and qualifications it was the perfect time for DMCC’s own voice of drift Steve to bust a move.
With the judges in place it was time for qualifications to start.
For this round Greig Basdeo was the 3rd judge to replace Ben Alden who coundnt make it this round..
And the other two judges are the two guys that pretty much started drifting in Canada..Marco Santos and Haig Kanajian.
As the starter got all the cars in order for qualification Marco practiced his marksmanship trying to hit a DMCC bang stick with a pen from 5 feet away…Pretty good Id say!…One More Time! lol
Qualifications were exciting. Mike Pollard had a miss shift on his first run but was at least about to put down a solid second pass getting him into the Top 32.
Jeff Laflamme qualified 3rd.
Dave Briggs put down a crazy run and qualified 2nd.
Just edging Dave out was Eric Paradis with an insane pass!
The clutch in Simon Schaffners car blew during his first pass..His team tried as best they could to get it fixed in time for the second run but it was just not enough time so Simon was out of the Top 32.
After quals there was a small break..It was a good time to take a nap on a fellow driver..
Or to check out one of the beautiful DMCC models.
Not really sure what JHD Productions was filming here.
With the Top 32 about the start the grand stands filled up..
Top qualifier Eric Top qualifier Eric Paradis and the other top 5 qualifiers all had by runs due to the number of cars that broke and were out of the event.

In a crazy battle Dave Briggs had to face Mike Pollard in top 16. Briggs ended up running something over that not only cut down his rear tire but de beaded it too. Dave ran wide and in a crazy move Mike made the pass on the inside..
After cutting down the tire Dave took a 5 min to change out tires.. It was cool to see Tanner Munson and Brad Carlton helping out! Despite his efforts Dave was not able to over come the mistake on his lead run..Mike moves on!

Final Battle of the night.. Francis tasse VS Jeff Laflamme. It was very close to call but Francis was able to lock down his second win of the season.
Money Shot!
Final standings: Francis Tasse. Jeff Laflamme. Mike Pollard. Max Lemoine.
With this win Francis has extended his lead for the championship. There are still 2 rounds left in the season so it is looking good for Francis but it will still be a good fight till the end!
