The Maxxis British Drift Championship is set to return to Lydden Hill on August 11th and 12th! This will be Round 4 of the championship and some teams are getting into their stride as they push on in the hope of claiming championship honours at the end of the season. Others are hoping to narrow gaps between the competition and claw back spaces on the leader board or indeed reel in their rivals. Who will claim the weekends honours is anybody’s guess, but one thing’s for sure, it won’t be short of action and we expect to see drivers pushing to the absolute limit!
We dug deep into the vaults for a small selection of pictures from the last time a BDC event was ran at Lydden Hill. This is a quick look back to 2010! It provided a whole host of thrills, spills and trips into the gravel trap around this tricky Kent circuit.
While some of the liveries may have changed and cars have developed since the last visit, the circuit remains the same. It’s a serious acid-test for drivers, challenging and unforgiving!
The track features some demanding rises and dips that test the nerve and skill of even the most seasoned drivers. It makes for a real thriller from the grandstands for the travelling spectators. Beautifully rewarding when it goes right, but if it goes wrong, the high curbs and deep run off areas take no prisoners.
Due to the Kent circuits location, it should see an influx of European drivers who are keen to take on the BDC regulars. Each class from Semi Pro up to Super Pro will be crammed to capacity.
The “hill” will provide a great vantage point for spectators to lay back and soak up all the tyre shredding mayhem as it all unfolds.
The weekend will break down as practice and qualifying for each group on Saturday 11th and with the Championship round and twin battles on the Sunday 12th of August. With the groups being so close, there is everything to play for and nothing will be given in the battles. It has the makings of a round that will be talked about for long after the event has finished. So don’t miss out!
