Rd2 of the DMCC series was back at Autodrome St-Eustache that for many is know as the birth place of Canadian drifting. This round of the championship was special. For the first time they invited the top 8 seated Pro Am drivers to compete with the Pro’s to have a all out Top 32 battle.
The round was a full day event. Practice, qualification and competition were jammed into one action fill day. That being said he day started early..really early. DMCC Judge Haig Kanajian drove the track setting up the clipping point.
Former DMCC owner Eric Belec still plays a major roll in DMCC.. Here he is calling the shots on where to set up the rest of the fencing and media zones.
I heading into the paddock area to see some drivers. It was good to see Mike Pollard back after having a very short rd1 after his tranny blew..He came prepared for this round with a bunch of spares.
Dave Briggs made it out to this round too with his Formula D car! I was excited to finally see this car drift in person.
ODParts.ca driver Bob Patinka suits up for the drivers meeting.
Former DMCC driver now DMCC race Director Dany “Babu” Bernier takes a photo of the packed drivers meeting.
This was my view. Oh Mike!
DMCC driver Brad Carlton and part time super model didn’t have his car ready for RD1 but he was ready to rock for Rd2.
I dont think those are fire proof..
Marc Landreville had just gotten back from competing in his first Formula D event where he did very well for his first time out.
After the drivers meeting the first practice session was about to start just as the crowds were let in..
2 time DMCC champ Matt Waldin made it out to compete in this round..Always fun watching him run.
Its always crazy to see Maxime Lemoine sliding his S10 around. Just makes so much smoke… Hes competing for the Rookie of the year title!
After having to borrow a Pro Am’s car to compete in Rd1 Alex Michaud’s S13 was ready for Rd2..He was looking good out there.
Brad Carlton and Max Lemoine have a little practice battle.
Pat Cyr was yet again driving his trusty AE86 since his new FRS was not 100% competition ready..it will tho for sure be at Rd3.
The angle Mike Pollard was getting was just crazy.
Practice was going pretty well for everybody with no major incidents except for some little adventures through the mud..
That was until Jeff Laflamme went in too hot and bounced his IS300 off the wall.. The damage was pretty bad but his team was confident they would get it fixed.
RD2 was the DMCC debut of Paco’s S13..Looks mean!
It was really nice out but we got a few little rain showers that turned the main straight of the track into a skating rink cause a fe driver to completely loose control and for this unlucky driver smack the wall.. Damage was not that bad tho.
Eric Paradis has really stepped up his tandem game..Here he is getting up on Philipe Bruyere in his big bertha Toyota Soarer.
Once his team got the car dialled in for this track Dave Briggs was looking really good out there despite battling a cold.
Jeff Laflammes crew did get the car fixed but on his first pass out an other suspension component broke sending Jeff back into the wall..It was now over for Jeff.
Practice was just about done and it was time to go straight into qualifications.
With it being knock out style qualification the drivers gave it all they could on their first pass..
Qualifying in 4th was Pat Cyr.
Qualifying in 3rd was Marc Landreville..Who was also sporting his new tire sponsor sticker on his fenders.
Qualifying 2nd was Max Lemoine.
And qualifying in 1st was Magic Mike Pollard.
In a odd turn of events after Joe Thiffault qualifying first at RD1 he got a 0 on both his runs taking him out of the show.
After the qualifications it was time for a track break. The pits were open to the fans and boy did it fill up fast.
It was the perfect time to get a signed autograph from your favourite driver.
Or have that driver sign your kid.
During this time the drivers were getting interview by DMCC’s own Mouton ( sheep ) .
And the lovely DMCC models were walking around taking photos with fans.
With no time to spare the Top 32 battles were about to start. The grand stands filled up to a pretty much sold out crowd.
