It’s been a year of highs and lows for us in terms of results. Plagued with issues surrounding the change to a new gearbox in the early stages of the championship. At the mid point in the year our position in the standings was not exactly as hoped! We had absolutely no idea that entering into the final round, we would actually be in contention to win the championship, thanks to our 1st place finish at Rd 5 Lydden Hill, and some bad results from the forerunners in the championship.
The Knockhill final didn’t exactly go to plan though. We achieved a fantastic 3rd place in qualifying, but made a huge error in the first run of the top 16 battles, and at that point effectively lost the championship. It’s not all bad though. 2nd place isn’t too shabby for our first year returning in an undeveloped car, and entering the 2013 British Drift Championship has been a great deal of fun!
We’ve not entered since we won the championship in 2010, and it’s great to see the standard of driving has continued to improve. We’re already looking forward to next year, and are working on some exciting plans for the team alongside the début of our new AE86 V8 Corolla.
Thanks to the whole Driftworks Support Team. Particularly to my Driftworks Co-director James Robinson, who was able to attend the events for the first time in a long time, and made a huge difference.
Thanks to our awesome sponsors: Sky Insurance, Nankang Tyre, DynoTorque, Protuner, ABC Clutch.
And thanks to everyone at BDC. The staff that run the show, and the new friends that we met along the way.
Now winters coming it’s time to get those BMW missiles
out to keep our eye in!
