2010 D1GP Final at Autopolis Raceway

Totally thriling super high speed insanity from Saito Daigo and Masoa Suenaga both battling for the podium. Fantastic driving from both – although chatter on the ‘tube seems to question the judging results. They’re not pulling the silly angles on entry you see in qualifying here, but either way this is amazing.

I thought Keiichi wears his green racing suit even when he walks his dog. This really hit me by surprise. Seriously what happened to the guy, I couldn’t recognize him in the first few scenes?! Short hair, low excitement, black suit….man i wish the legend never get old. He needs to be put in the hot seat again. Hmm, UK Touge 1 anyone?

Me too. Still, you can’t argue with the judges. I’m going to go read the comments on YouTube now, see what the internets has to say about the ‘crooked’ judging!

depends on what the judges asked for tbh. Saito’s runs definately looked better tho 🙂

Obscure judging made me lose my interest in D1 long ago..Yes nice cars but somehow it’s lost it’s charm, mainly because of the politics of the D1 corp. Yeah all the familiar faces are turning into “old farts”..Nomura looks like a prune…but there you go.. I still think a lot of these weird things have to do with Japanese culture and our great “misunderstanding” of it… but respect to the Japanese all the same for the sport we all love..

Not really. You may think that the driver was awesome ( and they really are ) but its judges who want to see something. If they say ” drift there, without “pedal in the metal”” then even if it looks awesome its not correct.
Sleepy told us that u can talk whatever you want to Daigo about 4-wheel drift ( no acc), but he always goes all out with pedal all way down all the time. So its not correct ( not what the judges said ). You have to keep that in mind as well.

Erm, in the second one more time where Saito is following he straighten/adjusts at least twice, I’d have said that was a bigger mistake than Suenaga slightly dropping one wheel onto the dirt. Fair call I’d have said

Also have to take into account that Saito has 300bhp more than the FD.. and tbh, i’m fairly sure i’ve seen Saito’s car come up with anything between 900/1100bhp on the intro bit, so could be a bit more.

Watched it a few times, and the FD initiates earlier and with more angle most times, can’t really expect him to keep up with a car thats nearly 50% more powerful. I have to say i love saito’s transition when following… takes a fair amount of balls to chuck a chaser around like that 😀

ummm… that is a tough call. waaaaaay farther away from the lead car, but with steep entry angles. not enough power i guess
