For those that didn’t get enough AE86 goodness on 8/6/2011 for 86 Day. Here is one of the biggest gatherings of the AE86, with over 300 cars attending this year’s HachiRock Festa.
Sagamiko’s Pleasure Forest is the perfect area to have big car gatherings as this place is one huge kids entertainment park, with plenty of large parking areas located all over the park. The Hachirock Fiesta kicked off at 10:00am and if you didn’t arrive early to secure a good parking spot with shade nearby you were in for a smoldering hot day sitting in the sun, as I realized when I showed up 15 minutes late. This was my first time attending the Hachirock Festa and I didn’t know what to expect.
I want to start of by saying I was ill prepared for this event. 95 degree weather, the parking lot was located in a valley with no wind and no shade was available to the late arrivals, aka, me…
First thing up was to buy a drink from the vending machine, but as my luck turned out it was completely empty already and it was only 10:30am!
Now I didn’t think of buying any drinks before hand and was crap outta luck, so I had to buy from the vending truck selling drinks at higher prices and with only 1 flavor non-coffee drink – a peach flavored water being sold for about $2.00. I must have bought 10 of those drinks during the day. It seemed like it was planned, the machine ran out and then the vendor truck made all the money – check out the queue.
To say this event was packed is a understatement.
As I was about to check out the meet, my friend Gavin showed up in his super clean AE86 Levin. Gavin has entrusted AE86 shop Expert OZ to do most of his installs including the 20 valve swap and 6 pot willwood brake calipers.
My AE86 doesn’t look so hot next to his, except for maybe one thing…
Driftworks sticker awesomeness!
With all the AE86s to see, where do I start.
His and Her’s AE86?
AE86s with gull-wing (Lamborghini style) doors were in attendance.
Here’s a nice matte black Ae86 fully decked out in Bride fabric.
Some unusual colour AE86s.
There was a fair share of AE86s with 86 numberplates.
A nicely done supercharged AE86 Levin.
One thing that was really nice to see was that some AE86 owners were selling AE86 parts at super cheap discount to what you can find at a shop or online. Small things like stickers, all the way upto carbon fiber body parts.
I saw this really nice US spec AE86 – notice the steering wheels on the left hand side!
Disney Cars fan you think? I had to laugh when I saw this, but I kinda dig it. I bet they’ve sold a million of those sun reflectors in Japan.
Some popular AE86 tuning shops such as Tec-Art’s were there showing off their merchandise and cars.
This AE86 was pushing out 348 BHP with the turbo and a combination of 7A-FE parts (block, crank, rods) and 4A-GE parts (head and pistons) to get the term 7A-GE engine.
RunFree was there also but had no cars to show off at the event.
Big car shop chain YellowHat had a nice booth selling oils, plugs, etc.
Garage Speed had a couple wild AE86s for show.
I would say an AE86 event isn’t complete without a showing from an Initial D lookalike AE86 – Tofu anybody?
There was a booth dedicated to Initial D.
Broke and dying of thirst it was time to head home, but when I headed back to my car look who I saw re-filling the vending machine!!! It was damn near 4:00pm then and everybody was heading home. Planned I tell you!
Next year I gotta remember to come early and be prepared.
I hope ya’ll enjoyed my article on the Hachirock Festa 2011!

Excellent write-up and good to see the Japanese don’t always get it right. There’s some terrible cars there! Lambo doors on an 86!!! WTF! 😀
PHIL,
I would have to agree….lambo doors…ewwwwwww
I’m all for lambo doors but the styling is all over the olace on alot of the cars! The Initial D 86 with the new type j-blood kit is awful. The simple red gze levin wins it for me.
