Hi All,
To set the scene, I have fitted a new SR20DET to my 180sx. Everything seems to be dandy except the power steering that just doesn't want to work.
Holding my hands up, I did put generic Power Steering Fluid in before finding out it should be ATF but went straight ahead and dropped the generic power steering fluid from the resovouir to put in the correct ATF as prescribed.
Unfortunately, after an hour wheel left to wheel right I am still not getting any power steering, the car is extremely heavy. The pump is definitely working as it's pushing fluid out the top of the res and isn't whining.
The plug (below air intake) seems to be in tact and not corroded. I can't see any leaks and the lines are exactly as should be when considering diagrams for 180sx PS systems.
Anyone else know anything I should try? Would It be worth flushing again but from lower in the lines? Adding any PS additives etc?
