1985 carina engine swap

Hi guys, i was wondering if anyone would know about changing the whole setup of a carina.
I have a 1.6 1985 toyota carina, everything is stock at the minute but the setup just doesn't do what I'm looking for. I want to convert to RWD and put a bigger engine in (over 200bhp) but I'm not sure how to go about it. this car is sentimental to me so I'd like to keep it as an everyday car when I get it right. Any suggestions on how I could do this with as little money as possible and with decent MPG?

I've been looking into it for a while but I cant find much info on it. I found some info on this about an engine swap for the 1979 model but I'm pretty sure the 1985 carina 2 has different mountings. I'm thinking that I'll need to buy a rwd for the conversion and do some fabrications, if that's the best thing to do what car would suit best?

hey mate

first of all are you really want to turn into rear drive this carina ??
is tottaly differentcar front drive to rear drive
you need to cut and welded the chassis for space for central diff and after all why you didnt buy a rear drive for better and easier work ??
is your money is you time do anything you make happy

you search for this models is already rear drive

is big miss to turn into rear drive
now for engine the best option for me is 4agze supercharger motor with 170-180ps
( base is on 4age with supercharger )

Thanks, I know the car isn't really worth it but I didn't buy the car to turn into RWD, it was bought for me years ago when I was starting my business to fix up and sell but I never sold it, now it holds sentiment so I want to keep it. I dont like FWD so i want to convert to RWD or AWD with a engine that would do at least 180bhp stock. I know there are ways to make it work I just want some opinions on what would be the best way to go about the whole job.
Eg . Could I buy a RWD celica with a JZ engine and swap everything over with less fabrications then finding a m3 with a JZ engine?

Honestly it's all about when is it still "that" car and not a completely different thing with that car's body pannels and couple interior pieces, I ABSOLUTELY feel you on that one, because i get attached to my things like they're parts of me. I couldn't bare to drive a different car if i was in your situation, sure I could afford it and make one x100 faster, more reliable, slick... But do i want to ?
I've always had this problem with everything, from my shoes, to my phone, clothes, even bed sheets and pillows. It's that if something is with you for some time and you lose it, it's like losing a part of yourself. Goodluck on your build and do whatever makes you happy, even if it takes 1/3 of the paycheck, it's still YOUR car and nothing else would be worth it. People don't have to understand :)
