1987 s12, how much do you reckon it's worth?

Right this isn't exactly a wise thing to do at 1:32am, but Im really fed up with my car and simply need a change. Owned it for nearly two years and barely anything has been changed. Goods and the bads are as follows.

Good:
New clutch installed soon after I got the car
106,000 miles on the clock and I got it at around 95K ( so it's not done many trips )
Near immaculate interior apart from drivers seat tear on right side and worn steering wheel
Everything is original on the car, number plate etchings onto all windows and lights
4 good falken tires
Original alloys and spare ( but painted black )
Disc Brake's all round
Painted turbo pipe with BOV installed
Custom stainless steel back-box and turbo back system
Various decals ( sun strip, 6 small decals on rear side windows )
1.8L sohc 8v Turbo'd engine ( CA18ET )
All electrics work bar the passenger window
All gauges work even for a 20+ year old car
MOT and road tax runs out Feb 2008

The Bad:
nearside front arch rusting but momentarily stopped, sanded down, smoothed, filled and primed. Some small snippets of rust just around the indicator.
There are some small rust bits and bobs dotted around but not big enough or noticeable to put anyone off.
Passenger electric window comes off the runners when it's down when door is slammed shut ( hence the reason why it's locked up and disconnected. )
Passenger door trim off and metal frame showing ( I have the interior door card and trim at house )
Original gear knob doesn't fit anymore, thread is chewed but it's replaced with a solid metal shiny one instead.
Slight whine from gearbox but I've owned the car for almost 2 years and it's not become a problem
Car runs with a viscous fan ( ie, is always on when the engine is running )
Fan cowling was missing when I bought the car.
Funnel to air box also missing when I bought the car.
Exhaust manifold is blowing around the turbo so I'm told by a fellow mechanic, starting to get worse as expected.
Turbo is beginning to blow a little blue smoke also but It's the original one from 1987. Not noticeable at all when driving but is when your waiting still.
Rear spoiler was removed due to my own personal interest ( primera spoiler had been plastered and silicone onto the rear....took me an hour to clean and fill the holes up properly )

Notice: Don't be put off by the manifold and turbo problem as I have a replacement manifold and tubby ( perfect working order ) ready to be fitted and hooked up, but money's tight so I'm yet to get round to it. However it will be included in the price along with the required gaskets. Also the pictures are of when the car hasn't been cleaned and it does get manky quickly as it's white yet it does stand out from the crowd and is more or a retro car for those who like older cars. Got to admit it's only been in the garage once for a clutch then regularly for service so it's still got year's left.
Failed it's previous MOT for a faulty handbrake ( eh heh.....:smokin: wonder why ) it needed a new track rod-end and it passed even with an exhaust due to it not needing a cat. Don't expect much new for it's upcoming MOT in FEB 08

It will drift but it's underpowered, I tend to use it mainly in the snow or rain as you get the feel at slower speeds without the wear on your tires or smoke ( besides I'm a newb drifter so you can understand when you ain't got the funds for big BHP or tonnes of new shoes ) Anyway it's japan build quality old style and it's built like a tank, give it stick and it'll do what it's meant to.

Anyone actually wanting to have a look or buy it just post to let me know, I'll clean her up before hand so you'll need your shades when you arrive or you'll be blinded, unless it's a typical Scottish day :wack:. Any positive or negative comments welcome....like telling me how lame it is. Cheers guys and girls :dw:

If anyone wants other pictures like of the interior ie. the passenger door I'll get them asap as the door card is still off at the moment. Any questions will be answered swiftly as I get on here everyday.

hey mate in some strange way im quite liking that as i dont wish to insult you i have no idea what these go for so if you wish to give me a start price sure we could go from there??

I'm looking in the region of £800-1000 ONO as it is fully road worthy and comes with parts needed to fix it properly. Not bad for a 20 year old car with only 3 owners.

funny isn't it, i put mine up on here and so does everyone else at the same time. I ain't lowering the price but I'll go as low as £800.

£800 does seem a bit steep for this one tho goin by the condition, s13's go for that price and parts are a lot easier to come by. And I've got a 1 liter runabout that I paid £250 for with t&t and a decent stereo!

funny considering everywhere I look, s13's or s12's never barely go for 700-800. In the end It's my choice to choose the selling price :smokin:

Besides I just got in touch with a garage that specializes in older car's so the manifold will be getting sorted soon. I'll see how it goes but I just realized tonight I still like the car, theres just something about it that makes it enjoyable to drive. :wack:

Well you did ask...

Also i've noticed cheap s13 go for 1000+ and your adverage s12 will go for around 600- So your right when you say not many s12's or s13's go for 7-800

its worth about £400

And Id agree with Pukka. Bearing in mind Im the S12 mod on SXOC and he runs S12oc.com, you might want to consider what we are saying ;)

I sold a drifty one for £500 a month or two ago, and a 200+hp minter that needed new rear wheel bearings (was out of MoT) for £450 about the same time ......... ;) :D

Oh, and you did ask ;)

Lol yeah but do any of you live with a mountain resort just a few miles from your doorstep? ( Ehem, tried a touge run up hill then down, suprizingly it's a beginner run but still the huge drops and hairpins ) Of course I did it at night an in the rain as my s12 is underpowered. ) That's why I barely see another s13 or s12...heck I rarely see an s14 or 200sx where I live, it's all 4x4's, lambo's, Ferrari's or supped up ugly saxo's and other tiny modded car's.

Think I'll keep hold of her since I was expecting some decent £££ for the car, besides I know I'm a rubbish drifter but a good shifter on the drag strip at crail. Fun as hell when you beat a sil80 and r32 skyline gts off the start for a good few seconds before you get hammered in the high speed section. :smokin: Though I don't think the car's got what it takes to go onto the small drift circuit.

True mate its your sale so don't let it go for less than you want for it, but I fail to see how you think its worth more than the experts say just because you live next to a nice touge  Lucky you!! I would like it, especially as its closer than most to me, just a bit too much dolla, good luck with the sale anyhoo
re s12: there are a few sub £1000 s13's on these for sale pages

Eh?

You ask if I live near a touge run, but thats fairly obvious as where I live we dont even have hills. What that has to do with anything I dont know

You then proudly display a timing slip showin a 17.5 second quarter, which I reckon I could do faster in a with a broken leg, giving my missus a piggyback - again, whats that got to do with anything

You then tell us that the car is underpowered but no good for a small drift circuit, which is just not wrong tbh

To try and help you out:

Get a bleed valve/bren device 2nd hand and a decent (well, better than the standard one) boost gauge. Block off the pop off valve under the bonnet, install bleed valve, adjust boost to 12 psi. Take lid off of air filter, install bigger exhaust if possible.
Magic, thats about 160 horsies you are now running.

Now take back plate off of diff, get a welder and muller the thing in weld. Put plate back on.
Sound - thats a welded diff which with the additional powers will easily take 1 second off your 1/4 and make the car go sideways without even thinking about it.

Finally, take your back seats out and some of the other shit in the car you dont need. Good work - youve just saved 100kgs which will make it drift and drag better. Youve spent £20 on the bleed valve and maybe £50 on an exhaust, but your car drifts and is in the 15s for the Q :)

Got £150 spare? Stick a FMIC on it, spend the other £120 odd on stiff springs and turn the boost up a bit more. Now youve got 180bhp, an easy 14 second quarter time, and something that will drift and track quite nicely thanks :)

Seeming to remember I don't have an inter cooler :p yet so putting the boost up will just wear the turbo out. Got that from a s12 forum on how to mod it respectfully. :smash: Plus I wasn't on about my overall drag time ( as it's like a tortoise , meant RT, my overall time went slower but my reaction time got faster :wack: plus the car never will retain it's 135bhp from factory spec 20 years later. Probably sitting moderately over a 100, hard to tell without a dyno. However I won't disagree with your advice as it's enticing especially for the cheap price, specially if I can get it to hit the 14 second mark....mind you I have heard modded s12's can eat scoobies for breakfast ( no idea if thats true? ) anyone?

so your gearbox is fucked, turbo is fucked, passenger window is fucked, body work is getting fucked by the tim worm.. i wouldnt offer any more than 200 if i had the time and spare money to fix it but i dont

u did ask

Read the bit just before what you quoted ;)

An FMIC shouldnt set you back any more than about £50-60 - I gave my last one away actually  I definitely wouldnt run much more than 15psi without one though

Dunno about eating scoobs for breakfast, but my red one was about the same as a mates PPP Impreza from about 20 mph to 110ish :)

Dunno about the spec of it but there was an S12 at Santa Pod on Sunday that ran a 12.6  :worthy:

Cool, shame I cant find the slip for my bone stock sierra XR4x4- 16.7@89mph :wack: :smash: Dunno about piggybacks, but I could get down the strip at about 16.7 wearing nothing but wellies and with my cock held loosely in my left hand.

And, back on topic, S12's are worth £70. Always.
