£1800!
I've decided to sell my rex because its a bit too hardcore for my needs. I love it to pieces but it's not the kind of car which is suitable for business hence why I need to sell. I'm going to be buying a Honda Prelude for my sporty fix.
It's an awesome drift machine and handles so well.
It has 88,000 miles in total, but had a £3500 engine rebuild about 25,000 miles ago by Rototechniks in Reading. At the same time the clutch, all ancillaries etc were uprated.
The engine is absolutely 100% spot on. I spent about £450 at WGT in Northwich back in January for a full / major service and at the same time had Pip Gardner (probably the no 1 guy on rotaries in the UK if not Europe) perform a compression test.
They are as follows :
Front rotor @ 280 rpm
7.60
7.90
7.95
Rear rotor @ 280 rpm
7.55
7.65
7.65
These results are excellent with anything over 6 / 7 meaning extremely healthy. I also had Pip check out the turbo and it is perfect. The engine also had some mild porting performed on it when rebuilt.
Oil pressure is excellent and it uses just the right amount as a rotary is designed to. Since the rebuild it has ONLY ever been fed mineral and super unleaded.
The idle is bang on and hey I could go on, the engine is just properly spot on.
It has an MOT til May 16th and tax til end of April.
There is some light bubbling appearing on the edge of the sunroof which is annoying but pretty much par for the course on FCs sadly.
The underneath is very solid and has had some new sills welded on.
The alloys are Mazda standard with Bridgestone S-03s on (lots of tread left.)
It has the following mods :
Fuel cut defender
Manual boost controller
Full decatted stainless Racing Beat twin exhaust (VERY loud, but I have got some baffles which quieten it a lot
Bilstein dampers / springs - which are nice and stiff but still comfy to drive in.
Very funky LSD - I'm not sure what make it is but Pip mentioned it's very new and it's certainly great at holding the back end out around corners!! It is definitely not stock.
HKS SSQV dump valve
HKS Air intake
FD3s RX7 Front calipers with Diamond discs / pads.
There is a Mazda standard immobiliser and alarm but the latter is disconnected.
I'm not sure how much power it's putting out, probably something like 250 bhp at a conservative estimate - it's certainly a lot quicker than my old tt soarer.
The gearbox can sometimes crunch when going into 4th gear but only if you're really caning it, it's usually very smooth. I had the gearbox oil and lsd oil changed earlier in the year.
I have folders full of receipts for lots of parts, it has been extremely well looked after and though driven hard by the previous owner it's testament to it's mechanical condition by the amount spent on small parts. Stacks of paperwork at Rotechniks in particular.
I currently have no stereo in the car, but it does have some good JBL speakers and Pioneer amp. I'm not really into ICE and the sound of the rotary is better anyway
The paint is generally very good, not going pink but it does have some dents / scratches. I suspect a lot will come out with a nice T cut - being a red car it is a bit faded.
It's very fast, handles superb and has been very reliable. It is however just not something I can turn up to meetings in.
I have been getting around 250 miles to a full tank of Super unleaded which is fairly average for an RX7.
I'm looking for £1800 cash for the car, or near offer! I live in Chester near to Liverpool.
