So i thought id start a good forum thread on this beauty!

Shes a 1990 rb20 gtst manual shell, imported in 2000, been through a good few hands...even been sr20det *vom*
Its been atleast 4 different colours as well!

So now...

I bought the car 1st jan 2022...happy new year! Collected her on the 6th jan, I had a 33 gtst from last that came from a great deal, adored it, just made the want for a 32 stronger! Brief crossover period i had both, now the 33 is in NI!

These days this gem has got a S1 rb25det engine and box out of a r33 in it, r33 front Subframe, stock power nothing fancy!

Adjustable arms nearly throughout, including hicas delete - down the line I'll be going to s13 frame

Maxspeeding rod coilovers - why so people buy these seriously?! Theyre already as good as off - see below updates!

GTR rear overfenders, GTR fibreglass wings, GTR bonnet annoyingly cut for a dmax vent, genuine GTR front bumper, GTR imdicators, GTR spoiler, M spec rear bumper, M spec skirts - finished in nissan QM1

1am in the morning, 150 miles into heading home after collecting!

it came on a set of rota GTR in 17x9, finished in black - personally cant stand black wheels and within 24 hours they were sold, it went on a set of 7twenty style 49 i had from my 33 in bronze...the car was always going bronze or white wheels, planned for 17s and indeed was then set on 17s, in the mean time i collected a set of wheels but they'll be out in better weather!

At this point id owned the car 72 hours, had done 1000miles, given it some stick and had no dramas show, it was time for a health check tho as i hadnt ramped it yet!

Compression check all healthy 150/160, very pleased, box oil change done, replacement track rod end done...

Onto the rear, i found a pulled diff cup...doh! The car has a lovely kaaz 1.5way fitted! Called garage-D as they're local, little chat i pulled it went down to them to inspect it as i didnt wanna risk killing the kaaz...turned out it was built all wrong, cups didnt match casing, not aligned, to top it of it was only a 3.9 and the crown wheel was pitted to death!

Full rebuild later in to a r33 casing, 4.1 GTR gears, fresh oil its beautiful!

I then got offered a set of wheels as swaps for the 7twentys, they were white, specs worked, i said yes, at the time thinking they were rota grids, swap was done, fitted them up....over the moon!

New wheels on, it was time for the first wash at this point, the white just wasn't white anymore!

Thought id insert a break a so i could get my bearings! Been a busy week for this car!

That night of the wash i lost the passenger imdicator, damn fuming It took the bulb holders with it! I have since Found it but only the bulb holders are saveable!
IMG_20220113_105208.jpg

I picked up a half cage for it, the car is being built up for track use, i drove 2 hours, took my front seats out, fitted it...drove home!

I always told myself the first thing I'd get for a 32 would be a gurney flap...it arrived! Carbon fibre from EPracing, fitment is good! Quality to!

Im bloody cold, im adiment its oil pump, 20 minutes later i start stripping roadside expecting a long wait barely get time to get rad out and fan off...bam recovery within the hour!

IMG_20220113_235438.jpg

Get to my workshop for about 1am... straight on the ramp continue stripping...

Sure enough shattered the oil pump!

IMG_20220114_021628.jpg

In the process of stripping i noticed something...some tit fitted a ally crank pulley!

IMG_20220114_015927.jpg

That wouldn't have helped! At this point its 20 past 2 in the morning, im tired, im frustrated, its been a week! The oil pump collar was pretty tough and really wanted attention...

Up friday get digging, now it was how bad is it, bearing damage? the swarf presence was minimal, pick up clean, could it be? I popped a rod cap, cyl 2, was in the right place to access straight up...

IMG_20220114_122319.jpg

Bugger! Its now a bottom end minimal no matter what, i got a busting, engine came out, front end off - save fibreglass tears! - on the stand strip and access the crank fully....

Cyl 6 Rod bearing was the only drama, but no crank damage! Thank god!

Crank got dropped that night to power units in hatfield, theyve taken car of many previous tasks for myself and others in the area! Currently awaiting an update im the coming week

At this point its 24 hours since boom, I've had enough, time to look at options! Saturday i dont believe i touched it at all

Today...sunday 16th,

Wasnt happy with the wiring, its scruffy...sod it relocating fuse box out the bay!

Dash, center console out, fuse box dissasmbled, pulled through now in drivers footwell uncut!

IMG_20220116_171625.jpg

Ill be cracking on mid to late week with the relocating, by what time hopefully ill have some news on my crank!

My birthday is 5 weeks away, itll be back ny then, but the aim is a fortnight!

Excited to have it back!

Yeah gutted it was so soon is of loved to just enjoy it a little more!

Little update

not had a great deal of time, loom is run across in a first fit up, now just got to find a wiring diagram, identify the plugs that werent in use and remove as much uneeded as possible aim is put headlight wires out passenger side and go in the wing rail, ill be loom taping it all with fresh tape before final fit!

Update!

Had a good evening on it, finished stripping bits out the bay, got it prepped and some paint down!

Its an EPracing carbon fibre one and i have to say im dead chuffed with the fit!

I also picked my crank back up, all polished ready to go!

Plan for Saturday is get the bay paint wrapped up, then sunday will be start refitting some bay bits or try progress with the wiring!

Well a SOLID weekend has been had!

They bay is painted, i couldnt be happier!

I decided against white, i hope to eventually paint the outside in a fresh shade of white so it'd of been mismatched whites and bugged me, I've picked a contrasting colour and a few further tricks, i sat the bonnet on tonight and see my vision before me, very pleased!

I then started the wiring.... got it all thinned out, re routed and worked out exactly what needs extending, so thatll be next week!

God i hope it works still!

Very very happy with how the car is taking shape, hope is have this wiring as done as can be in the week, ideally taped and fully inplace minus headlight extensions, then next weekend i hope to do engine assembly ahead of refit

I also want to pull my engine loom yet and give that some attention!

Update time...didn't realise I hadn't!

First up, a couple weekends ago I pulled an all nighter on her, I'd been up that week looked at the wiring and been disheartened by how far the end seemed to be!

That night I got cracking out the to do list of everything except wiring or engine, the new meisterR coilovers went on, pair of new rear wheel bearings, front end all back on, brake servo and master cylinder back on, brake lines cleaned (yes) and the clutch master refitted...I also cleaned both of them...with a toothbrush!

Luckily I had good company to approve

I've spent more time on the wiring, and have come to conclusion this wiring loom is aged, cores are black dead and it's been manipulated so much it's beyond Saving! It's gonna be going off for a full loom shortly at XDR motors

Now now...I'll just pop this here for the moment...

So...been another couple weeks...

I got a beautiful delivery from auto extreme last week, Wayne has yet again been insanely helpful and a delight to deal with!
IMG_20220224_191112.jpg

I've gone for it, full build!
Link g4x, 6boost manifold (awaiting stock), g30-770, cosworth headgasket, Manley rods, cp pistons, turbo smart 50mm wastegate, acl race bearings, hks belt...
Still a lot to get mind, cams, springs and retainers, Ross damper, id1050s, trigger kit, link sensors...it goes on!

You'll also notice a beautiful NISMO coppermix twin plate clutch there... however I'm not sure I'll use it as I'm currently strongly looking to go DCT...

anyway, onto what has happened...

The block is at the machine shop for boring, decking and so on

The head however... is currently being port matched, mild knife edged and a polished, and I gotta say no wonder these heads get restrictive! Opened right up!

This thing is gonna RIP, to say I'm actually scared for it isn't a lie...can't wait!

Today I've cracked on with some more painting, I'm colour coding the exterior parts that weren't white - mirrors, grille and bumper lip (to do) - as well as these the cam covers have also gone body colour to help with contrast pop I'm after of opening the bay!
