1991 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 - Something a bit different maybe??

Jaguar XJ6 4.0

I have owned this car for around a year and a half, buying for its comfortable ride and head turning looks. In this, as with all other areas, it has not disappointed.

During the ownership period the car has never let me down or left me stranded. Just a few months ago it sailed through its MOT with no problems whatsoever. The engine and gearbox run very smoothly, as you would expect for a Jaguar with only 97000 miles from new. The automatic gearbox comes complete with Sport mode facility, for when you need that extra get up and go. Either with or without Sport mode, performance is very strong throughout the rev range, and it will accelerate or cruise at high speeds with minimum fuss, little noise and maximum comfort. In addition, the interior is near faultless; cream leather seats with red piping are complemented by real walnut trim throughout. All the electrics, traditionally a weak point, are in good working order. Mechanicals are as strong and smooth as ever; diff or transmission whine are conspicuous by their absence. This car certainly has many years of trouble-free motoring ahead of it. The car comes with an alarm, immobiliser and Alpine speakers.

As you can see from the photos, the bodywork is in good condition overall. I have always made a point of keeping this car looking clean and shiny both inside and out, including the engine bay. This model is getting quite a rare sight on our roads, even less so in this condition. The car was fitted with a set of new 18 inch alloy wheels recently but the car can be purchased without them at a cheaper price  (photos with and without shown)

As with any car of this age, it does have some minor bad points. A few months ago someone kindly reversed into the car whilst it was parked up. Although the bodywork and headlights themselves are undamaged, the front bumper is bent slightly on the offside corner. This is only cosmetic, and can be easily rectified if you so wish. There is a small dent on the passenger side front door and there are some minor spots of rust coming through on the rear arch and bootlid, all shown in the photos below. The driver's door mirror cover is missing, which again is an easy repair. These are to be expected of a car this age, but is certainly less than you will find on a lot of similarly aged models. The fuel gauge is broken, possibly a faulty fuel sender, but the trip computer can be used instead, as it shows fuel consumption. The standard Jaguar wheels have little tread left, so they will need new tyres, but the 18s have loads of tread left.

This car comes with a MOT until April 2008, but no tax, so the buyer will have to arrange this. Any viewings are welcome with prior arrangement. The car is advertised elsewhere also!

This car would make an excelent tow car with the addition of a tow bar or can be used as an interesting drifter if you wish (It does go sideways a treat :D)

Are you able to tax at cost? Also, what PCD are these old jags? Google didn't turn up anything :(

And it may be a stupid question, but what sort of MPG does it get :wack:

lowered, deeeeep 17's/18's and you have sex on a stick right there!!! how quick is she?

No, forget the 18's, too big. If you want to go silly, get some banded 16in steels and deck it :D

For a big heavy car she still pulls 60mph in about 7secs in sport mode and sounds amazing :D

(sport mode will rev right to the limiter in every gear but will change when you want if you back off then stamp on the gas again )

I will tax it if you pay for the tax

The PCD is a bit funny on these older jags but when converted to metric from imperial they are only 0.6mm different from the newer BMW e46 etc etc........ hence the BMW wheels on it fit on lovely

The MPG is about 25-30mpg if you take it easy.......About the same as my silvia

Insurance is also cheap as it was cheaper than my old CRX
