Hello,
I've searched for an thread related to this but couldn't find any information.
I have recently bought an Toyota Mark 2 with an single turbo 1JZ running with around 550 whp and 1kg of boost and i have been wondering if I should do a preventive rod bearing change. The engine is running with this configuration since 2004 and is probably the most reliable built 1JZ i have ever seen, absolutely no problems in all this time. It's a full track car. But the previous owner was not so careful with oil changes and did not use good oils, only cheap mineral oils changing them every 3 events, This has made a little worried with how good or bad my rod bearings are. Do you guys think it's an good idea to change the rod bearings as preventive maintenance? The engine runs perfect with very high oil pressure all the time.
I will start using Motul 300v on the engine, not sure which viscosity, what do you guys recommend?
