Right, I bought this a few months ago as an 'inbetween car' after I sold my 180sx and was looking for something else, I've got another car now (eunos roadster :euge: ) so it's just sat on me mums drive!

I've put 4500 miles on this car since february and it hasnt missed a beat!

Details:

1991 BMW 318i LUX

Nice and comfy

130k ish miles

All oil and fluids changed less than 3k ago, new rear brake shoes

115-ish bhp, so will drift if you want, would benefit from stiffer suspension and a welder though :smash:

Good on fuel

TAX & MOT untill end of August

BMW service history + handbook

Standard apart from 15'' BBS (RA??) Alloy wheels, as fitted to the VW Corrado G60, so worth really good money on ebay. 1 centre cap missing though.

Minimal rust, chip on rear arch, and a bit of bubbling under the drivers mirror. see pics:

Other than that bodywork is really solid, all arches are good, spotless underneath, couple of scratches on the rear quarter, odd carpark ding here and there, but pretty mint for an old bimmer

Bad bits:

Passenger side seat wont adjust and is stuck in position, so has a slight 'gangsta lean' to it :D

Scrape on sunroof where it retracts into the roof.

brakes could be better, fronts stop fine, handbrake is terrible, probably just needs adjusting + setting up, WILL stop you though :p

Usual 318i noisy tappets, doesnt do it all the time, just sound like they're sticking a bit, and not got any louder since I've had it :)

Needs tracking at the front, not too bad, just not been arsed to go get it done yet :euge:

Its been stood for a month and the battery's gone flat, but thats probably because I left the sidelights on over night by accident last time I used it! :o :o

Crappy clarion cd player! :wack:

Would make a perfect daily driver or a good budget driftcar! All it needs is some 70 quid lowering springs, a welded diff and you're away! I'll even throw in a Haynes manual and an old tatty bucket seat for free if you want it!

Its hard to find an e30 thats this solid these days, so this would be a perfect shell for a 325 conversion or even an m3 powered beast :D

Offers!

car is in Bradford, West Yorkshire!

Looks like a great base, and a reasonable price too! Shame it's about £600 over my budget :(

Ebay sucks balls and is full of time wasting idiots.

You will probably do better putting it in your local ads imo. Nice clean 2 door shell, would be nice with my 2.5 and lsd in it. Shame my budget is slightly less than MJG's.

Yeah part of me is saying I should just slam it and get a 2.5 in it!

Then make it all ratrod looking and evil :smokin:

How much roughly is it to convert it to a 325 engine? Do I just need engine+ gearbox or do I need the whole rear end too?

I guess google is my friend for that one...

what do these drift like ?? are they driftable in the dry ?

i really like 325's but never driven a 318i

could be interested if my car sells soon.

It takes lots of clutch kicking and quite a bit of speed in the dry, but its got stupidly soft/high suspension and an open diff at the mo, so I'd go for some ebay 60 quid -60mm springs and a welder, and reckon you'd have an easy driftable car!

MJG posted these a while ago of his old 318i, its just had spax suspension and a welded diff:

316 touring in good nick - £240
matt black paint - £25
cutting the springs - £0
eyebrows - £3
325 lump - £200 (minus £170 made back from the old engine)
second hand boge shocks - £50

Drift tool for peanuts - Priceless.

Your car looks very tidy, rare to find a mint shell and its just begging to be converted and drifted. If I had the cash I would buy it but I dont.

ps, The engine swap is ridiculously simple, just plug and play, keep the 316 diff for mental acceleration.

so I just need the 325 engine, thats it?

Your car looks nice and evil :D kinda thing I had in mind if I were to keep it!

325 engine, prop, engine mounts and gearbox. I was lucky, I had been given a knackered engine and box so I only had to pay out 200 for the engine, if I'd needed the box too that would have added a hundred or so.

The engine loom unplugs in the engine bay from the main loom, the new one plugs in. Bolt it in, plug it in, hook up hoses and fire it up. I did mine myself and I'm a complete mechanical retard.

simple answer... YES!

the mazda will sell quicker too. e30's are becoming a bit of a niche car. Two types of people buy them. People like me, who want to abuse them, and people in cloth caps with pipes that want to wrap them in cotton wool.

Without being harsh, yours isnt much use to either... the 1.8, while driftable, isnt ideal for abuse. And the near mintyness of yours isnt good enough for the cloth cap brigade, they want it absolutely spotless, no chips, no rust etc.

With the money you get from the mx-shite you could get a good 325 lump, all the bits you need, and have plenty left over for upgrades.

Everything is so cheap for e30's too, full suspension setup will set you back about 200, coilovers about 500, you can get a turbo kit from egay for about 750... etc.

Oh and your 318 will have a 4.10 diff.

316 has a 4.45...

This is my 325 on a 4.45 against a standard one (3.91)

So mine with a 325 engine would be inbetween those two in the video acceleration wise??

I dont get gear ratios lol :o
