2JZ noob , Building a VVTI NA-T in 2023

Hey guys
i thought i will look for "help" here.

i am in the process to pick up a 02 GE VVTI from a 02 GS300.
Complete Engine+ harness and ECU

I am very experienced on the LS plattform as well as SBC and BigBlocks
so building engines is nothing new.

however i am bored and i was always a fan of the 2jz platform.

Yes i selected the "worst" 2jz a GE VVTI, but i think i can make it work for what i am trying to do.
I have a 96 Chevy S10 sitting here that could be a cool , road racer build with a manual trans.

THIS IS A BUDGET BUILD and i dont mind ebay /Amazon as a parts provider if the parts are decent.

so lets start the Q's:

What MANUAL 5- speed Trans is the best Budget option and can hold up to 600ish HP ( crank)
and has "reasonable" adopting parts for the 2jz?
BMW trans, T56s, CD009s etc? what are you guys using?

Engine:
i will not touch the cams.
however is a ADJUSTABLE CAM GEAR worth it on the exhaust side for the VVTI engine?
how much degree of the advance or retard , makes sense ?

Turbos: what size is efficent for a 2JZ ? i am used to V8 turbos and would spec to big i assume.
However i have a BRAND NEW GT3582r T4, ar.82 on the shelf that i would like to use if its efficent ?
what other Ebay turbo options do well?

Air Intake: I saw the ebay Whale Intakes and the simple 100$ intake tubes ( wher i still dont know how you would be able to reach the bolts inside of them, lol

Turbo manifolds: there is a lot of ebay budeget options, which one has proven good?
Do SUPRA manifolds fit on GE VVTI? i doubt it?

Where do you drill the Turbo OIL SUPPLY?
Where do you drain it back ? oil pan? side?

Engine Management
i found that the EMU BLACK seems to be a good choice, but since i have no idea of it i saw that some guys mod and use a holley terminator X, which would be right up my alley :) since i know it.

What part # Headgasket to use?

Are there Ebay Head Studs that make sense?

New Oil pump or is there a mod i can do to the OEM pump, like porting , shimming etc?

Any easy but effective Valve train mods i should look into?

thanks for looking at this

Hello Sebambam!!

First of all, the VVTI engine can hold up to 350ish (roughly), due do they rods, so u better upgrade them, by taking ones from a non-VVTI or some from a 2jz turbo, either way u have to open the engine, and if you do so, u could also upgrade the pistons to some stock 2jz turbo or aftermarket ones.

For the headgasket, I have this one Ref. C4276-098, from Cometic, its +2.5mm and for 400-450.

Head Studs some from ARP should be good.

About manifolds, no the supra ones doesn't fit, neither the intake nor the exhaust, and for 600hp I doubt the cheap ones from ebay to hold haha

And thats all I can tell you.
By the way, search in google NA-t BIBLE things you need to know for your NA-T conversion and also enter some JZ group on facebook like any JZS or Aristo group that you see active, lot of people out there that share their knowledge!
