been thinking about getting into drifting for a while now and am currently looking into what car to purchase for this. i was wondering if anybody had had any experiences with the second generation mazda rx7's. if so how were they suited to this application? did they perform well or show up lots of problems? would anybody recommend this route or would i be best to choose another vehicle? any help would be much appreciated.

look forward to hearing your views soon

Ive just bought an NA(Egi) Gen 2 RX7, currently in the process of stripping/building it. There are a few more guys on the board with turboII Gen 2's (Gman & Rotary_Rogers etc)

If you decide on one, the first thing to sort is Diff, Coilovers, Steering angle kit, Remove the active rear steering (Just replace two bushes) and get a good bucket seat and harness. :)

I've driven Na FC on track together with a friend until it got wrecked but I loved it and that one was bone stock.

I have no idea how driftable it is but as said there are number of people already drifting them and I've seen plenty of vids of drifting FCs. The only thing is that those were mostly turbo'ed FCs

That said, I am currently building up a second FC (work on it has been stopped for a few months as I had to get the AE86 ready for daily use and the occasional drift event) and I'm planning to turn it into my drift machine. But still atleast half a year away from completion. Again an N/A, I just like the fact they are more reliable and much easier to work on.

I can’t really give you too much info on how good they are too drift compared to other cars because I am still new to the sport myself and have not had any proper practice sessions yet.

They are cheapish to buy but not that cheap to run unless it’s a 2nd car, as fuel usage is quite high. See if you can get one with an engine rebuild otherwise this could bite you in the ass after a few sessions.

If you have the money to import do it as you can get a fully set-up drift car for less than if you modded it yourself.

they are good for drifting as long as you get the stuff done to it like euge said, i've been drifting on and off in my fc for about 2 years, they are good cars as long as you keep servicing them and know where to get parts from :)

ive got a t2 and from my mild experience i would sya they are great drift cars and very fun cars to drive anyway. my t2 is standard and doesnt do to badly and hopefully it will anly get better with ym experiance, coil overs, diffs and seats etc. if you do go ahead with getting one you can join the team dude. also euge u going to join mate.
