3SGE Beams Blacktop Differences

Hey everyone this is my first post to Driftworks!

I can't seem to find this information anywhere so hopefully someone can help me out. I am doing a 3SGE Beams Blacktop swap in my Celica and am currently refreshing it, looking at certain parts for this engine is a bit weird because from 10.1998 - 12.1998 and 12.1998 - 05.2001 and 05.2001 - end of Altezza run. Parts are slightly different (ex. fuel injector seals have different part numbers).

So my question is how can I tell what year my engine is? And what are the differences between them?

Any information helps, thanks!

Mine was ripped off so there was no way of telling... But I did figure out a way to find out whether it was from 10.1998 - 05.2001 or 05.2001 - to end of Altezza run, in case anyone was wondering. On your ignition coils (as long as they are OEM) the part number will either end in 02236 meaning it's from 10.1998 - 05.2001. Or if it ends in 02239 or 02262 (both are interchangeable) your engine is from 05.2001 - to the end of the Altezza run.

Hope this helps anyone looking for any parts for their motor!!

The manual and automatics have a few differences too. Manuals have titanium valves, and are slightly bigger compared to the automatic I believe which is one factor as to why their on-paper power is greater. There are a couple of differences externally, such as a heat shield on the intake. What ECU are you using? The manual and autos had different ECUs from factory so that might help. Also if it is a manual gearbox from an Altezza in the Celica you might have an answer xD
