5 stud hub conversion.. Yay or Nay?

I've just imported a 180sx. It's pretty standard apart from coilovers. It's been suggested that a 5 stud conversion would be beneficial for braking as well as for wheel choice etc. Is it worth it? It seems very expensive, but stopping is rather important.

I would say its worth it.
1. Straight fit bigger brakes, with no need of redrilling the rotors.
2. You can easily fit s14 LCAs(without mix and match balljoints-arms) which give you wider track.
3. Wheels choice/cheap drift wheels.

Its not space expensive in my opinion. s14 hubs/knuckles + LCAs + s14 front and z32 rear brakes etc, would be doable under 4-500quid

I've got a 180sx and have been buying bits to do this swap.
^As has been said, It's worth it if you aren't content with the standard brakes and want to upgrade them. Handbrake on mine is awful due to type of all in one caliper they come with but can just swap to uk s13 drum brake setup.

The other thing to consider is whether you want to change the wheels to wheels that aren't available in four stud. Obviously this can be the most expensive part of the swap. Whatever you get just make sure they will clear the bigger callipers. Most 17" wheels clear some 16" there's a whole thread about wheels that clear Z32/ R33 brakes on zilvia or one of the other big s body forums.

Some people don't recommend widening the front track with S14 LCAs but others do like it. again i think stagger/wing choice/driving style and geo play a big role on this. If you don't want to I think you just need to remove the LCA ball joint and replace with S14 ball joint (i researched and bought these ages ago so memories a little vague on this :p

Plenty of good swap threads around to get inspiration so good luck if you decide to go down that route
