It's a sad day when real life takes over and you realise you have to part ways with the best car you have ever owned. Who needs massive practicality anyway…? Well, me apparently so the Roadster is up for sale. Now I will try not to bore you to death wit the details of it but, if you are interested, it's well worth the read. This car has been my pride and joy for the last 3 years, has been maintained to outrageous levels, polished, loved, lavished with money and is frankly dripping with awesomeness.

I bought the car of a guy who had imported it privately for his wife. It never really got used by her, so had seen little action in the UK until I got it and began 3 years of pampering and throwing money at it! The car is a genuine Frog Eyes Japan owners club car and has the plates to prove it (you can't buy these!) so it has been loved in Japan by a previous owner as well!

So anyway, the headlines are:

MOT: April 2011
Tax: March 2010
Mileage 119k miles – this is what the car has done the engine has done less and the box has done around 60k miles!

Engine:

The engine is a low mileage (Though I only know this as I was told by the previous owner so can’t prove it) long nose crank motor (so no issues with this being a '90) and has the 8-hole crank pulley to prove it. It uses no oil or water and sounds smooth and crisp with no odd noises, rattles or anything untoward.
The cam belt was changed about 5k miles ago along with the tensioner and water pump (new coolant too).
Oil pressure is 4kg/cm hot running (this is perfect according to the work shop manual).
Compression is 200psi on every cylinder (again, perfect according to the manual).
It runs beautifully and further testament to its condition is the fact I get a genuine calculated 40-44mpg out of a week of mainly motorway, but generally mixed driving. Yes 40 mpg!
Brand new exhaust fitted only a couple of months ago with one-off tail pipe.

Gearbox , clutch & diff:

The clutch was replaced ~ 10k miles ago with an Excedy replacement.
The gearbox was replaced ~ 5k miles ago with a warranted low mileage box. At the same time I fitted a new IL Motorsport thrust bearing.
New slave & Master Cylinders.
Fitted with a tight a quiet factory LSD.

Service:

The car has been religiously serviced every 3k miles with new oil (Millers XSS) oil filter and air filter. The fuel filter has been changed every 3rd service and fuel treatment added.
Gearbox and diff oil are fresh and have been changed twice a year!

Suspension:

Gaz adjustable coilovers all round in mint condition, clean and free (adjusters and platforms)
All new ball joints (no play in any of the suspension or steering).
Rear chassis brace fitted to re-enforced (welded in) subframe mounts.
Front sump guard mounts to the frame to act as a brace to stiffen the front.
Also fitted with new camber adjustment bolts.

Brakes:
Just had new pads and discs all round 5k miles ago.
Discs are Grooved at the front and drilled and grooved at the back.
Pads are EBC sports all round.
New Servo and master cylinder.
New rear callipers fitted – yes, the handbrake works and passes the MOT!

Wheels and Tyres:
Everyone knows wheels make a car and this one has super rare 13x6.5 et-4 SSR MK2 split rims. They are in excellent condition with only very minor curbing on a couple of them (not done by me, and not really noticeable).
They are fitted with 175/70/13 Yokohama A drive tyres which are as new with 6-7mm all round at least!

Hard top/ Soft top:

The hard top is in good condition and with only a couple of bubbles around the edge that you always get! It does have a superficial crack below the rear screen but you have to be really looking to notice.

The soft top is good, clean and un-faded. There is a small nick below the screen which again, is hardly noticeable and does not let in water. The hood as a whole it water tight and looks good. The rear screen zip has been repaired so there are no issues there.

Interior:

Very clean and smart! No rips or tears in the seats, everything works as it should from the factory. It's had a new driver’s window regulator and the passenger one has been thoroughly greased. The steering wheel is fitted with a snap-off boss for extra security/ cool points.
Fancy Pioneer head unit (the one with the F1 cars and Dolphins!) and Pioneer door speakers – sounds good.

Body:

The paint is in good condition having been treated polished and mopped to a high shine. It's always plastered in autoglym too so it stays like it. There are a few tiny car park dints but nothing major. There is one tiny spot of bubbling on the D/S rear arch. This is not because the car is rusty, it's from when the arches were rolled in Japan and a small patch was left behind the lip unpainted. This is not spreading and would be a cheap easy fix.
The car has been waxoiled thoroughly every year (it has bout 10lites on it!). You could park it in the sea!
All the common Roadster rust spots are immaculate – yes, even the sills – original and perfect! – please come and view it to see for yourself!

Snap off steering boss.

Single Hoop roll over (style) bar.
LED rear fog light.

Please note: I am keeping the bucket seat and the Apexi RSM. The original mint driver’s seat will be fitted.

The car is located 2mins from Junction 10 of the M42 (Tamworth). If you are interested drop me an email to:

Price-wise I'm looking for £2995 ono but will take an offer for a quick sale; I’ve seen the car I want!

That's a fantastic price mate, best of luck with the sale. Far better and cheaper than that other black one on here (no offense to the guy)

ive seen this car and can vouch for its mintness. i was at a track day at donnington where you were drifting it in the rain.think you got black flagged.i seen your white toyota beast the other weekend.that pic with no bonnet is just round the corner from me i hope you dont do burn outs there late at night as it really pisses me off!!!

Rob. Rob rob rob.

I love this MX5. Is there something else lined up or just tapping it for cashola?

A truely well-treated car here people, Rob is a man of automotive class - even after hanging out with complete wrong-uns.
