No, I didnt let the temp go into the red at all. I stopped off for something to eat and noticed some water under the car which I presumed was a leak in the radiator. I topped up and used Radweld (was hoping it would do the trick) and managed about 100 miles. When I stopped again there was no water dripping down but I still needed to put about 1.5 litres of water in. Drove on again for about 5 miles and it needed another 1.5 litres of water and I couldnt see any dripping. I never let the temp go over 3/4 up the guage. There was a slight ticking sound when accelerating though and I was told this is head gasket related. The guy I bought it off assures me that he had it tested and couldnt be the head gasket but sure these things happen I guess :( It was a fine car apart from that. I'm still trying to see if I can get it transported home but it looks expensive so I think my best option is to cut my losses and see if anyone here wants a cheap project

look at the side of the block between the head n the block for water running out in a stream when you pour it in and look for it running down towards the tranny or dripping out when u rev it (look under your door) around that area, if it is might just be ur frost plugs missing/ loose...

wat a bummer, the only thing is as you said you kept filling it up with water i presume cold and if you hadn't let the engine cool down there is a risk of the head being cracked now

@S13Silvia: Thanks for that, I'll be back over this weekend to check it out
@Streetsleeper: I didnt let the water go below half at any stage and always waited at least half an hour before putting water in (i know ideally i should've waited longer) but I'm fairly sure this didn't crack the head...

I'll find out this weekend anyway. Thanks for the help and fingers crossed...

I've had a bit of interest in this but ideally i'd like it gone this weekend as I'll be in England on Sunday.

If someone gives me £250 on Sunday they can have it.

Even if you didnt want to fix it you'd get a lot more than £250 just for the parts from it...

hi agen ware will you be on sunday cos i will give you 250 for it i just didnt want to drive for 4 hours if the car has bin smashed up:nod: cos my car has a lot of rot in it and i only want it for the shel eneyway

I took the car for a quick spin on Sunday, started 1st time still exactly as I left it.
