Ive just had my diff welded on my e46,i unpluged the abs sensor at the rear wheel but now my speedo doesnt work,is there a way to disconnect the abs temporarily without loosing the speedo?
Thanks in advance for the help guys

Not sure myself, but would also like to know

(have you tried a different wheel sensor? I have heard people talking about using the front left wheel...)

Also to add (- again, not sure if what I am suggesting is correct...)

Apparently early model e46's traction control / abs is switched off by one click of the button above the cig lighter, and later models need one click followed by a long press of the button to disable the traction control / abs fully

no. ABS is not thought to be turned off by BMW itself. It's just the DSC (traction control).

You can turn it off. I'm not exactly sure at RHD, because I got LHD. but on MY Co-Driver side is a bunch of cables. (not sure on which side it is at your RHD). Theres a green/blue cable which comes the ABS CPU. Cut that, get a switch between and now it's switchable. If it's off, the yellow ABS Fail Light in the dash has to glow. Otherwise it's still active. Turned on, the light is off.

I can show you better, but just in german. Here's a helpful site. Even if you don't understand the text, there are helping pictures. Theres the cable I was talking about.

Good luck.

Welded my diff today.

Unplugged the abs sensor from the rear drivers side wheel and its worked. Still have speedo working. The abs and dsc no longer work. The warning lights on dash come on obviously.

Car is a y reg 330 manual. I believe it might be a different solution for post 2001 models.

You can also pull the fuse oder kill it with something else. With a failed sensor it's also not capable of doing something. Everytime the light glows it's off.
But I like it to be switchable from the inside, abs is still quite useful at high speeds on a motorway for example.
