thinking of starting a project soon, finally got my licence. not necessarily going to be driving it everywhere, but just to insure for a day or week whenever meets are on or whenever track days are on.. any recommendations?:o

Old enough to have a well paying job so you can spend lots on race car parts

EDIT: in all seriousness, yeah, a good job is the first thing to concentrate on.

you can start them at any age, but money plays a massive part in it, if you are young start with something small and cheap ie fwd hatchback.

then move up after you have done that one. also stick to a simple car to start with to learn stuff :)

if your under 21 then its nigh on impossible to get short term/day insurance. if you realy want to get into drifting your gunna be looking at a Volvo 340 or similar and weld the diff up. Im 21 and work full time as a mechanic and I realy struggle financialy to run my E30 drift car and get it to drift days regularly. its easy to underestimate how much it costs

Be old, have money and an ounce of sense.

Lolvo 340 or a zimmer 318 might be good places to start.

Temp insurance will laugh at you if you're very young, so research the insurances first.

If all else fails, lob an RB26 in it. As everyone knows, that's the only way to get a car to skid.

plus, if its taxed it has to be insured now??

so you'd have to tax and insure it everytime you want to use it??

VERY expensive?

Good job there are such knowledgable people on here then. Now to figure out how I can fit a 2JZ in my fagwagon... That'll make it skid. But will a welded diff flip my car over and give my dad AIDs?
