Advice on Altezza rack, pump, clutch and flywheel needed - thanks!

Hi,

Wonder if you guys could help? I have a Toyota Altezza RS200 jap import. I took it to a Drift What Ya Brung day aaaages ago (my first one) and overheated my steering pump which then shed metal shards throughout the rack. I’ve tried to avoid replacing the rack by flushing the rack out and getting new pumps but the pumps have both gone so I need to embrace a new rack… I also need a new clutch so I’ve been in 2 minds about what to do with all this as it’s going to add up…..
So Questions:
- I understand it’s possible to slightly alter an IS200 rack which I could try and get second hand – does anyone know how easy/practical this is and where I could get it done around Surrey/London?
- An idea of the cost of a second hand rack fitted?
- Where I could find another cheap new RS200 pump?
- A good replacement harder wearing sporty clutch that can still practically be used day to day?
- A good flywheel (as I’m replacing the clutch….)?

I’m trying to get this all done relatively cheaply if possible (although i have relatively low mileage this i think this is adding up so the car is pretty much a write-off) which I know isn’t going to be easy but any advice would be really appreciated!!!

Is200 rack is the exact same,should fit right in. Sr20 pump is a good upgraded to the Altezza pump, fairly straight forward to fit but needs slightly altered or you can use a vw caddy pump also. I'm using a paddle clutch in my own Altezza but try an organic one, should last a lot better them an oem one. Try Clutches R Us - https://www.facebook.com/Clutches-R-Us-115546558515160/ that's who I bought my clutch off and the do a billet fly wheel for 265 euros

Great info thanks very much Hermit. sr20 pump - you know what kind of modification (the attachment i guess)? Can i ask why you recommend organic clutch vs say a sport clutch (day to day use)? also do you know how the billet flywheel compares to say i TRD one (i know TRD much more expensive but to get an idea...)? TRD on nengun states:
- Designed to increase acceleration across the entire rev range
- Ranges from 24 to 50% lighter than standard
- Initial inertia reduced by 22 to 50% dramatically improving engine response
- Manufactured from strong Chromium Molybdenum Steel
 
The organic would just be better for daily driving, the only reason I went for a paddle is because I've turbo'd my Altezza and was told the paddle would suit my needs better.
I have a trd flywheel in my own car and the billet flywheel that Clutches r us sell is identical to mine. I know a lot of the lads here in Ireland get the flywheels off them. They are good value for money

I think you need to change the belt and maybe modify the mounting point. Can't remember off the top of my head but google it and should come up. I used a caddy pump on an old Altezza I had. Fitted straight on just had to bend the pipe on the the actual pump slightly

OK great thanks very much for your help Hermitage much allreciated. I'll go for an organic clutch and the billet flywheel.

Last question - when you say sr20 pump - what should I be searching for online? I'm using a breaker website that covers numerous yards but need to put in make model year etc? Finally saved up to get all this sorted!!!!
