Ae86 build

Bought this ae86 coupe for 500$ with a blown engine, but body was in pretty good shape. It was literally in a butthole in the ground trailer park cost me about as much in gas to pick it up as I spent on it. Day 1 I cleaned it up and inspected the body, it was fairly good shape little bit of rust here n there but all surface.

Worked on it for about a few months now, so far I've gutted and painted the interior, bought some NRG racing seats n fabricated some rails out of stock rails n some metal plates from home depot, and pulled some rims of my missile car (stock supra rims) put on some new tires. Shaved the rear side markers off and the license plate lights planning on custom fabbing an led one. Mostly just starting on looks n suspension for now future plans are to get greddy full coilover conversion and some t3 control arms, sway bars ect. I also already have a full set of poly bushings waiting to go in as well as some misc parts from t3. I figure while it's up in the air I'll strip the old under coating n replace it with por15 . Updates soon to come also pics

I'm looking at getting a ca18det and building it to handle about 15lb of boost, nothing too crazy I'm trying for 250-300 HP which should easily scoot this light chasis sideways. Also thinking about getting some of the under frame and rear spring/coilover housing welded for added stength. This is my first build so any advice would b awesome.

OUCH! I cannot understand people paying over the odds for these: Toyota Corolla AE86 In-situ Adjustable Track Control Arm - Suspension - Toyota 4Age Rally Car Specialists for group 4 escort, escort mk 2, mkii escort, atlas axle

What rear axle are you planning on running with that set-up :)

I actually never saw that site or I probably would've ordered from there. It came with a supra LSD diff was planning on getting some stronger clutch packs n rebuilding it. Like I said this is my first drift build I'm kindve learning as I go

Good AE86 sites in the UK/Ireland - MCNSport (D-Mac's Company) and GRP4 Fabrications (Rally Car Parts, supply a fair bit of kit to D-Mac) :)
There's also Modception (Modception) for some serious fabrication kit, but I'd imagine shipping would be a killer for you!

I like T3s stuff when it's similarly priced and ONLY when I have relatives in the US to pick up parts for me but it's always good to have multiple suppliers :D

Might be worthwhile looking into the Weir stub axle kit for the AE86, seems to be some fair power cars using them these days.
I'm going for the F Series axle for mine :)

My mate put a CA in his 86, was quick as fuck and awesome, but the gear ratios were a bit shit, especially for drifting You should think about a Hilux axle which has a much better gear ratio.

I've got a 270bhp CA in mine, I run a Mitsubishi Pajero axle with a 4.2 diff.

Chunky Nugget, was your mates a booter or a different car?

Thanks for the advice, I'll defiantly check those out, I picked up a ca off craigslist this weekend for 500$ tore it all down going to take crank n head into machine shop taking block in when I decide on pistons so I can get it punched over to fit them, getting a nice bonus this week also so might pick up some more suspension parts

Still haven't got pics, probably will this weekend dropped the engine off to the machine shop to have the head surfaced, crack micd and going to wait until I get pistons to bring in the block. Also bought full cosmetic rebuild kit, new oil/water pumps and Megan racing tension control rods

So I finally got around to uploading some pics heres the bucket of bolts the first day i dragged her home

Suspension was pretty gross and all rusted out so I got started on basics of replacing the bent stuff first and then worked my way from there

While I was waiting on the other parts I decided to check the body over for rust, luckily very minimal surface rust (got lucky) stripped the whole interior down and painted with some hammerite flame retardant paint.

More pics n progress to come soon, just got a whole lot of parts in tonight including t3 lcas, full cometic rebuild kit for the ca18, new oil pump and water pump, megan racing tension control rods. And saving up for some greddy full coilover suspension kit so that I can only have a few parts to replace on suspesion and I'll have handling down then its just on to body work and engine.

Sounds like some good progress buddy :) Amazing how much of a difference a coat of paint makes to an interior!
