Hopefully someone will help me out of a pickle.
Managed to get the time off work and get the holiday booked and then on Monday the doctor told the girlfriend it is VERY important she doesnt fly anywhere (would go into more details but she'd rather I didnt) but it is a valid and GENUINE reason.
No problem I thought, I'll cancel and claim on the travel insurance we'd got through Tesco.
BUT, according to them, we are not covered for her illness and so stand to lose the holiday and our money.
Here are the details:
Flight out: Birmingham > Arricife on Sunday 21st at 16:35 hours
Flight back: Arricife > Birmingham on Monday 29th lands at 03:45
Airport to hotel and back transfers INCLUDED but no in flight meal
Resort: Lanzarote - Costa Teguise
Accomodation: Hotetur Lanzarote Bay - here is their website for the hotel
Apartments Lanzarote Bay hotel Costa Teguise all inclusive
Board: All Inclusive
We went there in October 2006 and really enjoyed it, nice and clean and friendly with a relaxed family atmosphere. Food was excellent with a good selection and was always piping hot.
Since then apparently, the hotel has had a refurb and Aircon installed in all rooms - something that we really needed when we were there!
I have the docs for the holiday here, booked through an ATOL and ABTA bonded travel agent in Redditch - they have told us we can change names on the holiday for 40 pounds per person which is something I'd sort out for the winner. The holiday cost me 1018 pounds 2 weeks ago so I cant afford to lose it!
Can supply details of the travel agent to anyone wanting to check the validity of the holiday - they will do all the transfers and arrange for you to collect the tickets from the check-in desk when I instruct them - can also get them to give you confirmation via e-mail, like I said this is genuine and starting to panic me!

and the only change they'll make is names on tickets and even that will cost me an additional 50quid each. 
only says 21st?? what month? lol
I'd go back again. Unfortunately already booked something different this year or I would have considered this.
