Afternoon All,
Me again, some of you may have seen my old thread:
https://www.driftworks.com/forum/th...low-budget-possible-actual-skids-soon.254806/
Before I start, I am still just into drifting for the fun of it. I admire you boys building competition cars and giving it your all but its just a laugh with my mates for me ! So if you are expecting a mad build, I'm sorry to say but it's yet another simple seat time sorta gig.
Anyway, onto the Show:
So on with some back story: Its late 2019 my friend gets a phone call from an old work colleague to the tune of "Hi Mr Man, I know you and your friends all like BMW's, I have here my old E46 and its ready for scrap, so figure you can make use of it?"
Figure we'd take a look, Cats are worth a few bob anyway so on goes the trailer, hop into the 4x4 and ensues a 40 minute journey to the car.
Well, what can we say - dirty, clearly been siting for months - horrible wheels but I look underside and see original cat, four jacking points - worth a punt.
Dragged it back to the yard, did a deal with my mate on some parts  and I was now the proud owner of this:

Factory Alpine white (50 shades of :rofl four door, non sunroof E46 with 12Xk miles and a measly 1.6, this is a very early car, so it came with a M43TU unit.I so happened to have another E46 in my possession, another early one, but in 2.8 flavour..............
So on went wheels and Coilovers:

D2 Racing adjustable coil over kit, mid range but ample for my use and some OEM 16" wheels which while not exactly what I wanted, were better than prior. In it went for an MOT and despite some "underbody corrosion" nothing bad enough to omit it from her majesties road network.
So it ran like this for a few months, met a gal and fell in love so not much progressed with the car, but one day the clutch said "no more". I have worked on a number of BMW's and its really no headache to remove the engine and box. Remember that 2.8 I pillaged for wheels and Coilovers ?
In went the M52TUB28 Engine and ZF gearbox, I kept the 1600 rear end as it gave me a 3:38 diff ratio which was promptly welded, some rack spacers and it was a right hoot, I also got some much better wheels which turned it into this:

Better right ? Well a chance meeting then led me to these:

Well soon enough some failure points reared their ugly head and I spent many a time like this:

I also managed to grenade the 3:38 diff so I dropped in a spare 2.93 diff, Poly RTAB bushes and swapped in some 320d axles. No more issues ! I found a old rear wing (Originally destined for a E36 coupe) but had a little measure up, and low & behold:

Since then it has ran like a top, Drift days a plenty and I have even done a track day with it for the laughs, went surprisingly well all things considered.
I'll upload some clips at some point when I dig them out, moving house at present !
Cheers all.
