Any reason we don't see more Z3 drift cars?

Seems we get every other kind of BMW but hardly any Z3's. There's an awesome one in the projects at the moment but haven't seen another one for ages.

Same engines as 3 series, look cool, parts are plentiful and cheap.

Can't think of any obvious down sides. They're not even that expensive to buy and don't look any gayer than an MX5...

They aren't everybody's taste and also aren't hugely easy to drift due to the fact that you sit over the back wheel of the car and it can distort your perception of angle. You can get used to it fairly quickly though. John Moffatt used to have a wicked Z3M Breadvan that I spent a bit of time skidding. It was ace.

I guess I didn't think of that. The Z3M coupes are awesome but fucking expensive. Just seemed weird they don't even get talked about.

They're not good enough for the price they cost so most people pass them by for something else.
The cheaper end of the market for them are usually the 1.9's and/or Autos so it's not a particually great prospect.

You can pick up a cheaper E36 and do just as good a job, afterall the Z3 uses a hacked about E36 chassis with E30 rear suspension so it's not anything to get excited about.

Maybe if there were loads floating around in the £500-£1000 bracket people would be using them, but there aren't.

True, I didn't realise they were E30 rears, like Compacts?

Because its a woman's car

So are MX5's! They have a following though whereas it seems the Z3 doesn't really.

I guess with mx5's they have that kind of big following because they are that cheap and parts are easy to get as people scrap them all the time
