Anyone Drifting E39 M5?

Who does the above?

Same steering as other 5's? or is the steering servotronic? extra lock? what does one do?

uprated rad required?

Do you run coilovers?
 
Friend and i drove his m5 at santa pod
It was great, heavy as you would expect so the transitions where violent!

It drifts fine though, all the power youll ever need, the issue was the sport button, it made the throttle great for drifting but made the steering shit. It couldnt keep up, so we ended up pulling a few fuses at it was fine
 
Cut lock stops off , make sure its fault free (fault code read , sensor replacements) , make sure coolant and oil are a1 , make sure viscous fan is perfect and strong. Don't rush the gearchanges.

You may need 15mm spacers on front wheels to clear the inner arch.
 
Not prepared to cut lock stops. I have rear wheels on front ie the 9.5s i thibk they are with 255/40s upfront so perhaps that wont help.

Anyone upgraded the rads in these?
 
You won't get any more lock then , stock rads are fine , make sure the viscous clutch , fan , water pump , header tank cap and coolant are ok and you'll be ok.
 
Many thanks. So things like rack spacers dnt help then as the car already hits the lock stops?

Everything seems mint so il just stick with what i got :)
 
There's a LeMans blue M5 that rocks pod now and again he fucking kills it.

I've seen a few M5's up there and now one ever struggles to drift one really.
 
What would you like to know? I know two E39 M5 driver good, the drift much.

Just if theres any mods you should do to start really. Wanna protect the car as much as possible while sill having fun, have seen an uprated rad but who knows if any need for it.
 
i throughly enjoyed that video @Ludi, the sound and torque of these pull you out of a hole in an instant, powerful fun!
 
Ok so lock is more than enough really.

However the handbrake is total dog. Presume hydro only resolve?

Also do people wire up an abs switch to disable the abs? As when trying to dab thr brake you just feel the abs going nutzzzz
