Anyone fit a wide seat in a s14 on dw super lows??

MR.T

DRIFT RETARDED
Got a super low rail and just spent £410 on a sparco pro 2000 lf2 and the dw rails bows and also I can't get the seat low enough as my head hits on the roof.....

Pissed of major right now and I can't return the seat cos it's now scratched from the rails

Can redrill and bolt through the floor with a plate I guess?

Can you not raise the up to the second mounting point so you can slide the rail under the seat so it lines up ? sort of defeats purpose of getting a low rail though i guess.

I had it on the 2nd or 3rd up and I was near the roof but sill didn't work as the seats wide so it was still pushing/bowing the frame out.

I might need to move the front mount outwards to as it's not locking the runners right as its pissed

mine didn't even fit with a normal size DW seat, using a bride rail and it fits but is a bit high. Honestly the best is to sack the rail off and the cross beam then bolt the thing to the floor.

I had this problem with a cobra Suzuka pro. I'm going to be welding in rails behind the cross beam then use cobra side mounts booled to those. Seems like a lot of people do this. I assume it's for exactly this reason

Yeah seems I have 3 options

1 Use the rail and drill holes through the floor so it fits the seat but my elbow hits the door a tad.

2 Weld box section and base mount it.

3 buy and Bolt side mounts to the floor.

Will take the rail out and see where the seat will have to sit for me if I go option 2 or 3

Thanks will try sacking the rails off me thinks

I bolted my seat directly to a s14 subframe, then bolted that to oem fixing points, seat doesn't move but I'm happy with the position I've got

i found this with mine too in my s14, i have the wide arse corbeau seat and couldn't get it to fit at all so had to get happy with the grinder and welder to make something up from the driftworks rail that i had brought, if i had got the rail new i may not have been so happy to cut it up.

this is a pic of the unmodified rail to compare to from Google

the left side seat rail was fine to use and didn't touch it at all.

the right side rail basically i had to mount the seat to the side mount higher up as this so that the side mount could be reversed and the seat clear the bolt that holds it to the slider.

Added metal to the side mount to get the height needed to clear the bolt

and then drop the rest of the seat rail where it mounts to the floor down my about 2" cut the metal out and weld it back in place.

I got royally pissed off with the superlow rails too, ended up throwing them away and buying a bride rail

Thanks for the pictures, that would be easy to do. It's this or I make a brace and base mount it

no mate, on the left inboard rail i used the lowest mount point and on the right outboard one i used the highest one, effectively canceling out the amount i had to cut away but allowed the bolts and crap to clear the bottom of the seat and get it to line up. i will get you some pics of it all fitted in the car!

It's kinda hard to get photos of but you get the idea. U can see the position and direction of the side mount and how the seat bolts to either the top or the bottom of the sidemount depending on how low the rail Base has been made to fit,

Outboard side is mounted as high as possible with the extra welded on piece and the side mount reversed so the bolts are under the seat.

Inboard is on the lowest possible hole and the side mount is the correct intended way arround

With how much I cut away the smaller piece was cut exactly in half and then placed the cut off piece over the bit still on the rail and welded,

The back longer one was again cut exactly in the middle and then the bolt hole piece also cut off and welded back to the shorter cut piece still on the back of the rail.

Hope that makes some sort of sence ahahhaha
