Arena Essex, what's needed?

Basically what's needed on the car to run it at arena Essex, I rung up before and they said cage, harness's etc?! Defiantly seen cars down there with out

It's just a Volvo that's bought for a laugh so don't wanna be spending the bucks on it really

Cheers
Sam

You need a cage or at least an H frame if you wanna take passenegers, not sure if you must have a harness but its a good idea for the driver and you need a helmet.

Its a good place for some cheap fun if your not bothered about your car.

you need:
adidas tracksuit bottoms
flatcap
wifebeater
selection of joints
at least 3 or 4 screaming kids
gold rings
a shit e36

and most importantly a bad attitude/complete misunderstanding of what drifting is supposed to be.

Thats a bit harsh. Why so negative about the place. Everyone I have spoken to there are keen drifters and they have got away from the banger racers going there.

Oh and the only thing I have from that list is a shit e36 and a bag of weed.

I just wanna rub walls in a Volvo do I have to invest in all of that?

Did you have it all when you did arena in the 13 jack?

nope. but felt very very out of place!

maybe its different now. I went to the first ever essex arena drift event and it was awesome, a load of actual drifters who could drive well and all knew each other in shit cars getting close and trading paint.

It then seemed all the banger racers and pikeys watching thought theyd join in and didnt quite get the fact that drifting is about running walls and occasionaly touching doors, not smashing their £100 bmw full speed into someone they dont knows s15.

But as i say, havnt been there for years for that reason, maybe its got better. id be suprised though

To be fair I used to do the practise days a couple of years ago but got pissed off with the banger racers so stopped going, I recently started doing king of the ring there and it is much better.

I dont know what the practise sessions are like but going in a couple of weeks so will see.

J it seems to me that your pissed about having a car written off by some twat there, fair enough but just cos we drift at arena essex doesnt make as all pikeys...I do drive a rusty old transit though:nod:

All you need is a helmet and sleeves on a saturday king of the ring even with passengers.

You need a cage and harnesses to take a passenger out on a wednesday.

Oh and i wouldnt class it as drifting. Its a laugh if youre in a car you dont care about with a few mates with the same but wouldnt take your pride and joy round there

Your going round a track sideways running walls, why is that not classed as drifting? Fair enough you wouldnt wanna take a decent car there but it is still drifting.
The problem with this thread is people are gonna read this and think its ok to take a car there to smash it up, its not and the organisers work hard to get away from that, hence why they dont allow banger racers or armoured cars.

Its not really what id class as drifting, each to there own.

Sliding around at 4mph on a banger circuit covered in diesely water isnt exactly my definition of drifting

Yeah its not perfect I prefer a dry track but its a bit of cheap fun. The main thing is that people dont read this and think its ok to take a car that to smash up and not give a shit about others.
