Australia Drift Scene

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knows what the drift scene is like out in Australia..?
Thinking of moving out there as soon as really... Sick of this country. lol

Im thinking about moving to Brisbane as ive got family out there, but im sure i could get hold of an old truck and trailer pretty easy :)
What do you reckon the prices are like for drift cars out there..? Same as here or a bit cheaper..?

Brisbane is the place to go, they have a few drift practices a week at various tracks, from what ive read anyway. Dont go to NSW the scene is a bit shit. Silvias are kind of expensive to buy and the modifying rules are pretty strict, but parts are plentiful, as above just look around nissansilvia.com. Cars here tend to be expensive to buy compared to england, but im under the impression they are cheaper to own, well petrol is at least.

Cheers dude. I'm thinking along the lines of an s14 as I've had one before. Got like a 5 grand budget so hopefully would get a stage 1 or 2. Hope the petrol doesn't start rising like it has here!

If you look you should find an average s14 for that price, i just paid 8 for a really clean standard zenki. prices here are strange though, s13s are going for the same price as 14s... doesnt make much sense. 15s are becoming a bit more affordable too. but these are road legal cars of course, you could probably find a rally/race only import for dirt cheap.

i actually did the opposite and came to england to drift and play with cars. i think the scene is a lot better over here, cars are way way cheaper, tons more tracks within easy driving distance, way more practice days, far more lenient laws on street legal cars. the only bad thing is the expensive petrol over here and insurance.

im from sydney and the scene is dead there. one of the better tracks closed down last year (oran park), so the only other options are eastern creek (full circuit not driftable, but they have a skidpan) and wakefield park which is 2 hours drive away.

dunno what the scene in queensland is like but i assume it has to be a bit better, but imo if ur into motorsport, stay in the uk.

true dude i am moving to melbourne in july looking at getting a pickup and a trailer, you can pick american trucks up pretty cheap the insurance is ridiculously cheap! a ford f100 V8 pick up truck is £250 for insurance fully comp and i'm 23 with 2 years no claims!

I've been doing some serious research in terms of looking for an 13 (preferably and 200sx model) and they are going for anything from £1,900 (standard but very clean) - £6,600 (with all the mods you can think of)

Just keep looking dude have a look on uniquecars.au some good deals on there, but also look out for complete idiots who think their car is worth huge money and it's clearly not!

i have seriously considered buying an auto as the engine is the same just need to change all of the electrics and obviously get the manual parts but they are going pretty cheap some modded, you can pick an auto ps13 up from most everyday people!

good luck with the hunting dude!

How about wa? am moving to fremantle this week, wouldnt mind doing a few practice days in the future.

Hey man, I live in Perth so if you're ever keen give me a shout and I'm keen to show you around =] Drift wise here we've got a practice night every month at Barbagallo Track, plus we have another track a couple of hours away that we do weekend trips to.

If you're into Silvias, hit up silviawa.com, been running for about 10 years now so got a bit of info on there haha.

they seem to just do it round housing estates lol, been here a month or so and streeto is all i hear come around 12pm. i do live pretty close to the mountains though... oh and prices are redik melbourne way better off getting a big v8 commodore and weldin the diff imo as they are alot cheeper than the s14/s13s

a lot of different event's are held around the country.. Raleigh hold's event's.. QR (queensland raceway)... Sydney Motorsport Park.. Alot of great cars and alot of friendly guys and girls.
