Finally got the new engine fitted then the auto box lost 1st and reverse, so fitted new one and this one seems to not pull in 3rd, jus revs. Think it may of lost this gear but not sure has anyone got any ideas?

Dont know whether to buy another box or recon this one or do a manual conversion, but dont know wot i need to do the conversion and how easy it is. Has anyone done this? To give me tips.

Cheers

Damn right it shouldn't take that long, the trouble is that the guy who got it done originally paid the company for 40hours labour and that the company now reckons that it should take two to three days.

So far I have collected all the parts, fitted the brake and clutch pedal, and had a good look to see what needs doing, I'm doing the swap with a bloke off the SXOC by the name of Royston, and we're of the opinion that the job is marginally bigger than a new clutch change, so we're budgeting a full day for the job. The only cutting is to make the holes to mount the clutch master cylinder, and you'll see if you pull back the bit of rubber ahead of where the clutch pedal should sit that there is a template ready for the holes to be drilled.

We'll see how it rolls together in the next few weeks, because (if I get the box internals back from the shot peening place in time) I hope to do the swap during the Xmas break.

I'll be taking plenty of photos to litter that webpage with.

If you get really stuck my Auto will be coming out and for sale at a reasonable cost. Trouble is that you're more than likely going to fry what ever box you get next, they cannot take much more than 240bhp.

so if i had the boost at just under 1bar a decat and apexi gt spec and hks induction would that explain why its blown?

Its possible, I'm running a decat and boost controller but keep the pressure down to 0.8bar because of how fragile the 'box can be, dont forget that in the 'normal' world 200bhp is considered a lot of power.

I spoke to these lot:

About their heavy duty upgrades, they told me that their kits can make the box handle upto 500bhp "Depending on how its used".

That still left me with an autobox and was going to cost more than doing the manual swap.

You'll easily hear my Gleefull cries in Lincolnshire when its done. I can't wait to see the difference between the torque converter and the Fidanza flywheel.
