Hi guys, Remember to keep up to date with our blog for all latest videos and Photos from drift events around the UK. :)

Heres one to remember, we went to Awesomefest on saturday! (Organised by Driftworks)

AwesomeFest - Mallory Park

Well, what can I say! So much going on, so many people, so many cars and so much drift! ‘Awesome’ doesn’t really cover it, ‘Epicfest’ would be a more appropriately chosen name. Big thanks to our partner Jap Performance Parts for inviting us along and also to Driftworks for making the event happen, with out their expert input and know how, none of what your about to see could have happened, big kudos to them!

Arriving early Saturday morning gave me a good chance to get out and about in the paddock, most of the drift cars were on display including this rather impressive AE86 sponsored by Need for Speed/EA sports!

Driftworks S15 parked the paddock area showcasing its rather unique but at the same time relevant livery
IMG_0849.jpg

Team Falken brought along their usual three drift machines but had also invited a couple of BMW E30′s from there Dutch contingent, wow!
IMG_0855.jpg

Jap Performance Parts, one of our partners (plug) were out in force with their trade stand and perhaps more importantly there hybrid Subaru drift machine.

If you were to hand over £20 of your hard earned English pounds, you could get yourself a couple of hot laps with one of the many pro drift cars and drivers. Walton Smith of Jap Performance Parts is seen here casting his unsuspecting passenger a look of re-assurance!

The Pro Drifters and their cars were using all of the circuit and more through out the day. With the day effectively being one massive test session it meant the drivers could push the boundaries a little more than usual!
IMG_4367.jpg

Walton taking the opportunity to put the car through its paces with out having to worry about a member of the public being sat beside him.
IMG_0822.jpg

With the cars in the paddock on display to the public it allowed people to get up close and personal with the amazing machinery that was on display, the Need for Speed AE86 appearing to cause some confusion with these four punters…
IMG_4514.jpg

There wasn’t only a fantastic array of professional drift teams and there cars but there were also some equally impressive show cars that members of the public had brought along! These two Volvo 360′s were a prime example of this!

Back out on track with the amount of rubber that was being laid down the amount of grip was only ever going to increase. This Nissan 240SX almost winning 1st prize for amount of smoke…
IMG_4894.jpg

However it has to be said Walton was in a class of his own, with a new set of rubber for the rear and it was no contest. <not biased at all>….
IMG_4609.jpg

For its first year, Awesomefest attracted incredibly large crowds! 3 days of extreme sports and events plus camping for a reasonable price was a winning combination!
IMG_4518.jpg

This rider was making good use of the BMX and Skate park facilities – his co rider looking on rather anxiously…
IMG_4793.jpg

Walton heading back in to the pits after taking his mechanic Vit out for a few hot laps!
IMG_0802.jpg

This chicane was proving very popular with the drivers, they were getting increasingly braver through out the day
IMG_0810.jpg

The weather conditions at Mallory were providing some very interesting cloud formations
IMG_4541.jpg

Running repairs are made to Walton’s front bumper after it left the rear of the car going via the underside during one of the runs during the day
conrod.jpg

What with the nature of drifting being as near to sprint racing as possible, parts on cars are always bound to fail. This S14 would lose a con rod through the side of its engine late into the afternoon. The resulting trail of oil and parts scattering a large proportion of the back side of the circuit keeping the marshals busy as always.
IMG_4922.jpg

Ross from Dragon Performance made an appearance later on in the afternoon with the infamous Rusty, possibly one of the biggest crowd pullers – can’t think why though…

One of the many spectacles of the event was the night pro drift event…Walton pushing the Subaru hard through the last bend on to the pit straight.

So thats Awesomefest 2011 wrapped up – the next event we will be covering will be The August Cup Meeting at Castle Combe on the 13th of August! }

Some fantastic pictures there, if I'm completely honest though I think your logo is far too lairy and tries to hog the attention during photos, potentially ruining them.

This, for instance, there's only a few colours in the shot which gives it a nice feel, especially since they're so typically AE86, the logo ruins it, (IMO of course!)

Really good pictures but after pointing it out, I have to agree with bildo. It doesn't completely ruin it but it does take away some attention from the photo, much like when there's big unnecessary logo's on TV channels. Some of the better photos frome Awsome Fest i've seen so far though.

Thanks for the photo feedback guys, appriciate the comments about the watermark unfortunately at the moment its a necessary evil.

I personally don't like them but hey ho!

We will throw some ideas around an alternative. ;)

I am sure if you wanted a logo-free picture you could always ask for one, if you don't ask you don't get... however these pictures are posted for free and a lot of time, effort, equipment and money spent to get them, the fact that they are some of the best stems from the brand awareness that the logo brings which in turn leads to funding and advertising from sponsors, which in turn leads to more equipment, more investment and better pictures and so on and so forth.

If I had taken pictures of this calibre personally I would want my brand plastered all over them!

Also the reason why logos on TV channels are the way they are is to stop theft by competing broadcasters and would-be piraters. Media theft is a big problem and this is a surefire mechanism to keep it in check.

Just my 10p worth, if you want a photo, just ask...

P.
