As above,

Seen a compact I might get as a spare skidder, 1.8 e36 compact with a 2.8 transplant.

Still running the 1.8 diff and shafts - will they snap or be reliable?

I ask because in not clued up on that set up and a mate snapped a shaft on his stock 323 coupe at the weekend and yet these compacts seem to have 2.8's dropped in them all the time and I never hear any shaft horror stories.

Can someone Enlighten me on this?

Thanks

Define reliable, everyone I know who's running that setup has broken output shafts at some point, but it's not like they break every time they drift the car.

Had a 6pot in mine for a year of abuse and nothing broke.
323's have hollow shafts they break really easy.

My coupe has a 2.8 engine, 1.8 diff with 2.8 shafts, just had to taper opposite sides of the flange that goes into the diff

Not sure it was on here, I saw it on three sisters page, it is blue ye dude got it from Preston.

Need a bit of work to tidy her up but its a sweet car and will look great on my spare E34 bbs wheels.

The mrs likes it and she cant wait to learn skidz now as Im gonna book her a flat out factory day next year.

BUT im now thinking hmmm, my lexus runs drift moto kit to E36 gearbox, SO,. I wonder what a 1UZ compact would be like.

As im just mounts and wiring away from it being done really.

Though again my original question would come into play, would the rear drive line take it?
Would i need bespoke diff, shafts, cups and CV's as that would be daft money.

yea I chucked him my E46 daily and bit of brass for it.

Goes well, needs new exhaust badly but interior is sweet and not shagged, no knocks or bangs and diff bearings are good no clunks.
Small oil drip but I always expect the worse anyway as theres always a reason for someone selling a handy little car like that.

will be on ramp this week to get fully checked over but drove 65miles home very well and 3rd gear private road test skid was very comfy.

Id say everyone should should have one, they seem a right giggle with good poke under the bonnet. Would make for some bloody great door rub trains on track with ya mates then.haha

Yeah, got the impression the exhaust was some ridiculously loud thing, that was deffo gonna be changed, lol.

And yeah, 328i compact deffo sounded like it would go like fuck!

Nice buy I reckon mate.

328 compact here , had it just over 18months and only just done a shaft the other day as I was skidding and caught a bit of a pot hole , but yeah solid shafts so are OK normally it's the cvs that die anyway [emoji106]
