Bmw e36 as a first car

hello everyone, i would like to know if its worth it to buy a bmw e36 as a first car i always wanted one. I would like to get a 320i or 323i, insurance wouldn’t be a problem, is it expensive to maintain and what should i look out for ? I would like to add some cosmetic mods (nothing ricey) a stereo system and a little bit more horses (with time) is it worth it ?

any of them other than a 320 (most gutless piece of crap ever) will do. 323/325/328 will skid fine, 318is would need a bit more man foot but itll pay off in the end, soo much fun to
