Buying an S13.

Hey guys, I've been trying to source an s13 for a while one. I’ve finally tracked one down but it has 160k miles, a suspected oil leak (believed to be coming from sump). It has a boost leak which I'm a bit concerned about and needs some of the paint work sorted out. Apart from that the seller claims it had some rust work done and is ultimately quite clean compared to some of the ones I see. If I go to inspect it what are some red flags I should be checking for? I appreciate all replies :-)
 
look for rust in the rear pockets, chassis rails, footwells, inner and outer sills, turret tops and bootlid, pretty much everywhere...
 
Considering the price most S13's go for these days high miles and abit of an oil leak is neither here nor there.

If the shell is solid and not rotten it's worth top money.
 
yeah this is exactly what i was thinking! ^ it's located like 5 hours from where i live tho so hopefully when i get there im not disappointed. :D
 
Depending on how good you are with a spanner, it may end up being more cost efficient to hold back, and save for one with less "known" problems. If it has had rust repairs before it is likely there could be rust in other areas - check that rust hasn't been covered up with underseal etc.

If its a CA18 then the rocker covers are known to leak easily but can be solved easily with new gaskets and halfmoon seals. It can be hard to work out with a glance if that is the leak if it is around the back of the engine.
