buying my first drift car (help)

Hello everyone, nice to be here...

Just want to say that I am greek and studying in the UK, 19 years old, and not having a car here is freakin' killing me.

I managed to make some money over the last year and I am willing to give away my other savings as well in order to get a cheap car that will help me learn drifting. (the closest thing to drifting was a friends' miata in a closed parking for 5 mins, but I got a decent experience with quality driving with several cars)

We are talking about 1.5k quid for the car maybe a bit more, but I have no flippin' idea what's going on with the insurance and that's the main reason why I joined this forum and started this thread.

Anw, i would love to have some S13-14 but I'm pretty sure this is not possible at this point, so i was thinking maybe mx-5 mk1-2, ae86, ke70, bmw?, capri, sierras' are good starting options but I got no clue.
And just for the record I have been searchin at autotrader and pistonheads (i hope they are legit sites?) so any help on where to look would be great.

Any help will be appericiated lads, thanks in advance.

*PS: I hope this is the right section for the post.

As said above, you can't go too far wrong with a BMW as a starting point. A 6 pot would be ideal but if not buy what you can and make it work.

I've found recently on Autotrader e36's have been up for more money than I personally consider them to be worth. There's some kicking about on eBay and in the right Facebook groups but be careful of the whole PayPal gift scenario on Facebook.

Both MX5 and E36 are common so cars are cheap and so are spare parts when you run out of talent :D Theres a billion of each on ebay though I dont think thats the cheapest place for them despite being popular.

AE86 and KE70 have a big price tag for what they are , parts are more difficult to get hold of. I love my AE86 but I wouldnt use it to learn to drift in but at least classic car insurance is relatively cheap - until the point where you tell them you want to drift it lol

BMW 3 series (e36 or e46) seems to be the cheapest "out of the box" car to buy atm for first timers on a budget.

Yup, Cant go wrong with a BMW or an MX5 to start :)

As for insurance, it depends on alot of things, such as experience, where you live etc so we couldnt offer you info on that one as its different for everyone, best bet is to give a few places a call for a quote.
