Hi! I'm looking for a daily drifter that can replace my NA mx-5.
I think that i have found two main candidates
A 2.8 swapped 320i e36 coupè and a Ca18det 200sx
The e36 is cheaper and i'm a bit scared about Ca18's problems like bearings but imho the S13 is a bit more capable and better looking car.
All my friends drives e36 and i never heard serious problems with those engines
What do you think? Should i consider the s13 or it can be much more expansive? Thanks!
(Here in Italy i can't find any sky or sr20 silvias at decent pricing)

The m52b28 is the more capable and reliable engine, however the s13 is the more capable chassis. The b28 can make about 400bhp reliably while the ca18 about 300bhp. I would choose the s13 and swap the sr20 but depends on your budget. If both are kept as they are then I would go for the e36 for the power.

I wouldn’t say the 2.8 is more capable by a long shot in terms of £££/power, it depends what you want, if it’s a daily and you won’t be chasing power go with the bmw and look after it but if you want something as in a project that you will be putting money into later go s13. Also have the cool factor of the s13 not many about now compared to tons of bmw’s
