I've done the standard searches but no luck i've seen a few sr20's in rx7 but never a ca18 so i was wondering if it had ever been done thanks in advance.

Not that i know of.
It's a pretty retarded idea if you ask me. If your going to spend all that time and money on an engine conversion, fit an SR.

Pretty bad idea for an SR or CA when they are v.hard work to fit due to sump location, no off the shelf fitting kit for them, and you end up with something pretty average anyhow.
Youd just end up with a slightly lighter car than an S-body with far less sophisticated suspension and less parts available.

Off the shelf engine and box fitting kits for Toyota 1JZ and 2JZ, Nissan VG30, Chevy V6, Ford V8s, Chevy V8s, Mopar V8, LS V8s, Ford Pinto, Ford 2.3 Lima, Ford Cosworth YB, and probably a load more I cant remember, no cutting or welding, just bolt straight in, most of these include suitable radiators and propshafts if you REALLY want to make it easy for yourself.

I'd do one of them unless you fucking badass at fabrication and wanted to make it hard for yourself.

FC3's are damn heavy cars! I reckon a sr powered FC would weigh more than an s14!

As standard maybe, I dunno, just seems easier to get an FC light.

Under 900kg is done fairly commonly without spaceframing in the US on n/a cars even with mad cages, and even turbo ones (extra weight of turbo and intercooler) commonly come in at 950kg or so.

Dont see many non-spaceframed S-bodies under 1000kg, never mind 900!

I think it's down to the SR20 being more reliable and having more tuning posibilities

If you want an FC with a 4 pot turbo engine just buy a Porsche 944 turbo.

no point u mayaswell rb20 or rb25 it as a ca18det is prob slower than the standard rx7 engine

That is a fuck load of iron block you'll have added in the front. An alloy V8 would be lighter.

Although having had a V8 FC I'm switching to a 13B.

I was just putting it out there cause a ca is dirt cheap and since im lazy and dont wanna do the up keep on a rotary. But a 1jz seems like it would be a better option for a piston powered fc.

Ps. thanks for the help
