Ok.. I have strong beliefs when it comes to cages in drift cars...
My theory is something like this.. Get a good quaility bolt in... Mine is made by Nickson Motorsport, it has hench platforms built and welded to the car, the cage bolts to them.. It's as simple as it can be but is up to BDC spec.. 6 point with door bars..
Reasons for this.. In my opinion, drift cars get crashed and written off, it's often easier to just get a new shell, with IS200's it's cheap enough to do this.. With my bolt in cage, I can bring it from one car to the next.. If I bend a bit, Nick will make me a new one..
Also, Japanese drifters theory says a looser chassis is better for letting the car find grip.. To much rigidity is not a good thing..
And, more eliberare cages cost more money.. And weigh more..
Not many drifters are drifting over 120mph, I expect the fasted speeds of any of the BDC circuits will be 80-100mph, drift cars dont need mental cages like rally cars etc.
But you do need a good quality cage.. Mine is double ard bastard, can tell by tapping it that it's a good gauge of steel, there's too many cages out there that look ok, but made of thin tube with pony brackets..
