Can you put a tyre on to a wheel by hand?

lost the plot
I'm off to buy a set of 4 wheels in a couple of hours with 4 tyres which are not mounted on the wheels. I have a feeling they won't all fit into the back of my astra hatchback!

Is it possible to get a tyre over a wheel by hand? Obviously it doesn't need to be properly mounted. Just for transport.

Plus a passenger...

They are:
19x8.5J with 225 35 19
19x9.5J with 255 35 19

Can I push them on by hand? Even half on?

You'll get the tyre on one side no problem with a bit of soapy water but you'll definitely not get the second side on low profile 19s by hand.

Not only get them over but you can fit tyres by hand easily. Breaking the bead is the hardest part, but since you wont be mounting them this is not a problem at all. All you need is couple of tyre levers and some soap and water.

Propper pikey ish i know but i mount tires with soapy water (as already said) and a big flat head screw driver with some electrical tape on the tip so as not to damage the wheel. The whole prosess should take no longer than 30 secs per wheel low profile or not.

As others have said, absolutely no problem at all. I've had two sets of wheels with tyres in the back of an Astra + passenger up front. Not really an issue unless these are 20" with big chunky offroad tyres, lol.
