Capri 2.8i - 'The Black Shed'

I've already posted this up on the SXOC, but I thought it might be a bit more appreciated here!

The car was originally purchased my me and a mate as a cheapo 'trackday' car to save smashing up our S13s, thing is, there's no point in spending all that money on the S13 and then not taking it out on track as well, plus the Capri just isn't fast enough :smash:

So we've bought a diff from a MkIII 1.6 litre (much shorter ratio) and we're gonna get it welded up and chuck it on. Then we were thinking about taking it to a drift event or two. Neither of us have ever tried it before so you can all have a good laugh, should be fun! :D

It already goes sideways pretty well (Cologne 2.8 V6 + live axle + cart springs), but I reckon with a welded 1.6 diff it'll be a riot! :smokin:

Doesn't look like it should work... but it does! :smash:

I'm sure there are a few bits missing... but they're not important :D

Yep, it's a Capri all right

Oooh look, there's an engine under all that rust somewhere

I'm surprised there aren't more Capris about, I used to have a 2.8i Special with an LSD, and it was the easiest car to get and hold sideways that I've ever owned :)

Crapi's are AWESOME! Id have one over your S13 anyday! Especially because of the V6 roar! :nod :D

Cant wait to see it on the drift scene buddy!

Well i am a bit of a classic ford fanatic, so thats my excuse! :p

Don't get me wrong - I love classic fords, but as a direct comparison, to drive every day, I prefer the S13 :)

Now if the Capri we were talking about was a 280 Brooklands with a Turbo Technics conversion... :smokin:

Nice motor mate, good choice of car, couldn't find anything but rotters when I was looking for one!

Yes, well, it did need just a little bit *ahem* of welding for the MOT, thankfully there are no carpets etc so the labour wasn't much at all :)

There's still a (non-structural) hole at the front of the passenger footwell, last trackday we did it took us ages to work out why the passenger kept on getting showered with bits of rubber :wack:

My Capri goes sideways very easily as it has a 302 (5 litre) Mustang V8 with alot of tuning work like edelbrock alluminium heads, cam, intake, Holley etc. etc. giving 300 to 350 bhp, LSD and Capri Sport axle location kit etc.
How do I get started in drifting as some non Jap cars would add some variety!

Hi Pete.. good work.

Are you near bristol? I'm sure I remember meeting up at a longwell SXOC meeting..

Did you used to have a dolly sprint?

 My mate has a Crapi and he seems to think its not suitable for drifting. I'm going to show him this thread and get him to bring it up to the next drift day. :)

Danny speaks the truth

I'm sure I remember meeting you at a Longwell meet though, you had a burgundy E30? :)

Update on the Capri too, 1.6 litre axle has been collected and is sat in the back of the car until we can get some nice person to weld it up for us :D
