Cheap Drift Car ideas

Looking to get back out this year and do some drifting.

I don't want to take my 350z out onto the tracks, so need to purchase another cheap rwd motor.

I've been looking into insurance for a third car and I'm getting some crazy quotes...

So it's not leaving me with many options as e36/e46 are all coming back at over £1000...

So I'm looking into classic car for cheaper insurance... again this isn't looking too promising as the cars are more expensive.

The options are at the moment

An early Mx5 /eunos or a soarer.

The only soarer's I'm finding in my price range are 3 litre v6 autos. (With it being auto are they easy to drift?)

Ideas???

You can't go wrong with an MX if you ask me... I can't remember the exact specifics, but if you join the MX5 owners club some insurers will give you dirty cheap insurance... I'll ask my pal but he said his annual premium for his mk1 is about 50 quid!

They're easy to work on, perfectly capable drift cars and there are plenty of readily available drifty parts available for them... And if you get bored of NA power there's loads of tried and tested bolt on turbo kits available.

Also, as I mentioned in a previous post - The cheapest way for me to insure a second car was to put the car and policy in my dads name and pay for his premium... Then you can either be a named driver on the policy, or just drive it third party if your main policy allows that. And so long as the car isn't your main car for daily use it's all above board
